Match Report:
Deep into the business end of the season, The Welly welcomed Barley Mow Development to the OSSMA. The Welly ran out 4-1 winners in the reverse fixture but with Barley Mow in the promotion hunt, we knew a close game would ensue.
First half:
First chance of the game went Barley Mows way as their number 7 glided past 3 defenders only to have his cross intercepted and cleared. On 15 minutes, The Welly began to dictate play, but were limited to shots from distance as Barley Mow defended well. The deadlock was broken shortly after as Russ Grocott floated a ball into the penalty area, and after some tenacious work from Danny Ayres, he managed to fire past the keeper at his near post.

Second half:
Barley Mow improved in the second half and continuously attempted to exploit the counter attack. 15 minutes into the second half they found their striker one on one with Jack Towey who did well to force him wide but lost his footing and brought both the striker and himself tumbling to the floor in the penalty area. The resulting penalty was initially converted but a re-take was ordered due to encroachment. Banksy went the same way as the first successful penalty and pulled off a brilliant save to keep the Welly in front. The Welly finally doubled their lead with 15 to go after some great wing play from Adam Copestake saw Gibbo collect the ball just outside the box. His clever through ball found Ben Jackson who steadied himself before rifling his shot into the back of the net. Barley Mow were not done however and after some nice wing play, they found themselves one on one and cooly converted to create a tense final 5 for the Welly. The Welly held firm to pick up 3 massive points

A great showing from all involved, the players did not stop for the full 90 minutes and certainly left it all out there for those precious 3 points. Wishing Barley Mow all the best for their remaning games. The Welly travel to Silverdale next Sunday in another huge game.
