Christmas Day thoughts 🎄

Just a huge thank you from me personally — and I’m sure from all of us — to Clare and Ann for everything they do for SSADL. The kindness, positivity and leadership they both bring to the society is truly special. Clare, as our founder, and Anne, as Head of Judges, you both give so much, and the organisation and care behind everything you do is incredible.

A massive thank you as well to everyone working quietly behind the scenes — you are so appreciated.

SSADL is about togetherness, support and kindness. There will always be ups, downs and everything in between, but as an SSADL family we get through it together. We stand for positivity, for good sportsmanship, and very firmly against bullying.

Wishing everyone a peaceful, happy Christmas Day filled with warmth and kindness. 🎄✨

Beneath the winter lights we softly tread,
Where London glows and Christmas dreams are led.
Through garlands bright and music in the air,
We enter the arena — hearts laid bare.

Our senior horses, proud and calm and true,
Move through the moment, timeless in their view.
Each step a story, every glance a grace,
Years of love reflected in this place.

Surrounded by applause and festive cheer,
We share a bond that only horses hear.
Together, competitors, as one we stand,
Wrapped in tradition, magic close at hand.

A Christmas dream, so fleeting yet so real,
At London’s show — a moment we all feel.

✨ Good luck to all SSADL competitors at the London International Horse Show! ✨

We would like to wish every one of our competitors the very best of luck and, above all, a happy and memorable experience at this truly magical Christmas show. Enjoy the fabulous festive atmosphere that makes London International so special 🎄✨

Whatever the outcome, please remember that SSADL is about family. While we all naturally hope to be placed and do well, our society is built on supporting one another, backing each other up, and celebrating everyone’s journey. We are incredibly proud of the way our members encourage and stand by one another, and we know that spirit will shine through this week.

🎄 Christmas Stable Competition Reminder
All Christmas stable decorations must be completed by 6:30pm this evening. Judging will take place afterwards, so please ensure everything is ready in time.

📣 Mandatory Competitor Meeting
If you are competing in either class tomorrow, please keep an eye on Facebook for details of this evening’s mandatory competitor meeting. Attendance is required.

We kindly remind all members that the use of social media must remain positive, respectful, and in line with SSADL rules. Please ensure you are familiar with all society rules, including those relating to social media, as outlined in the rulebook. We ask everyone to take the time to read and adhere to them.

📣 SSADL Judges Conference – Important Announcement

Sunday, 8th February 2026
Village Hotel Coventry, CV4 9GZ
Start time: 10:00am

All SSADL judges are reminded that attendance at a Judges Conference is mandatory at least once every two years in order to remain on the judging panel. We strongly advise attending annually to stay fully updated with current standards, welfare guidelines, and best judging practice.

This year’s conference will take place at the Village Hotel Coventry (CV4 9GZ) and will cover essential updates for the 2026 season.

After the conference, everyone is very welcome to stay on for a friendly catch-up. The Village Hotel Coventry has a lovely bar and restaurant area where lunch and refreshments can be purchased, making it a great opportunity to relax, chat, and enjoy some time together before the season starts.
