I'm writing to inform the Hunt4sport community that I have been offered a PGCE physical education place starting this September.
This opportunity came unexpectedly. I applied during the summer holidays, more as a hopeful gesture than with any real expectation, given how late in the year it was. However, after reflecting on my professional journey and where I see myself in the future, I felt that applying was worth a try. To my surprise i was offered a place this week.
The reason I applied stems from my desire to grow further in education. Although I have truly valued my time working within the I2E partnership and with Hutchinson, I have reached a point where I need to consider my long-term goals. I’ve loved being a sports coach, but I would really like to learn more about PE.
This PGCE represents the next step in that journey, and after much thought, I’ve decided to accept the offer and commit fully to my development in this new direction and hopefully it will open a few more doors.
That said, I want to express my sincere apologies for the timing. I understand that this late decision may cause some disruption as the new school year begins, and I do not take that lightly.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work in such supportive, inspiring environments. Hutchinson School in particular and Mrs. Harris, along with every staff member I’ve had the pleasure of working with has played a significant role in shaping my understanding of what it means to be an effective educator. Your collective professionalism, kindness, and dedication to the children have left a lasting impression on me.
Most importantly, I want to thank the children. It has been a true privilege to support them in their learning and development. Their energy, curiosity, and resilience have made every day enjoyable and meaningful. Watching them grow and improve whether in PE, in the classroom, or simply as individuals has been the highlight of my time here. I am confident that they will continue to flourish in the year ahead with your continued support and guidance.
This has not been an easy decision. In fact, it has been one of the hardest I’ve had to make. I feel very emotional stepping away from a role that has brought me so much joy, and from colleagues who have made me feel like part of a team from day one. I will genuinely miss the day-to-day routines, the shared laughter, the challenges, and the rewarding moments that come with working in such a vibrant school community.
As I take this next step toward becoming a PE teacher, I will carry everything I’ve learned here with me. Your encouragement and example have shown me the kind of teacher I want to be. Thank you for the opportunity to grow, to contribute, and to feel part of something special.
I wish you all the very best for the year ahead and beyond. I know the children are in excellent hands, and I look forward to hearing about all the continued successes of Hutchinson and the I2E partnership.
Thanks everyone, please keep in touch 🙌🏻
