Episode 4…….2017 was a truly landmark year for AHS, after battling with the local planners for 5 years, we finally got permission to redevelop the old grain barns and so we repurposed the site to form a stud complex. Whilst small by comparison to those in Germany, in 2017 we built 8000 square feet of indoor mare & foal accommodation under one roof. It was a huge endeavour, with many high and low moments. But we finally finished just before Christmas 2017 and the mares moved into their new stables in driving snow before we had even finished cladding the walls……yes it actually snowed inside the building. Since then, and with such amazing facilities, we have never looked back. We now have 16 purpose built mare and foal units with 24x7 CCTV and a level of control over the temperature that is particularly useful in the more extreme colder/warmer conditions.
We were less able to have quite so many foals that year as we had very limited facilities. That said, the most notable arrival was a bay c**t (premium graded by visiting Oldenburg Verband) that was born out of our San Amour mare, San Summa and to a wonderful stallion called Blue Hors Farrell (Furstenball, by Furst Heinrich) from a D/W line dam. This particular c**t, named Farramourie (known by his friends as Monty) was purchased by a wonderful family in Scotland, where he remains to this day. His initial training has been very gentle to this point as he is, like his father, a tall boy but he is none the less a wonderful dressage prospect and we very much look forward to seeing him out and about on the dressage scene.
That same year… Aragon House Liana who went on to have a incredibly successful career in both dressage and eventing, competed in the Elementary U25 National Championship and she also qualified for the Scottish Championships at Elementary and Medium.
