MASSIVE WIN ON SATURDAY! 🏏

And a very important one too, as the win has thankfully secured our safety in the league.

It's fair to say this season hasn't quite gone the way we'd hoped. This team should've been much nearer the top of the table, but for various reasons - not least playing our home games on a temporary pitch - it has turned into more of a battle than we expected.

But Saturday showed exactly what this team is capable of 💪
Yadhu with a brilliant 52 runs. A 50 partnership from the opening batters. Rashy hitting the ball everywhere before taking 4 wickets. And some absolutely superb fielding across the team - even after going down to 10 men halfway through the innings, everyone dug in and the team spirit was incredible right until the end.

Now we can head into our final two games with a lot less pressure, enjoy our cricket and hopefully finish the season on a high! 🏏💙

Sadly, our opponents didn’t want to play on today’s wicket at Beeston Fields, so the game was called off!

Instead, the lads took the opportunity to play a five-a-side friendly on the same wicket - and despite the hot weather, it’s probably the best we’ve seen it! A great afternoon of training, some incredible shots, and now to enjoy a rare Saturday evening off! 🤣😉

Sadly, yesterday's game ended in defeat... but that only tells half the story.

We really struggled this week to pull a full 11 together which is semi-typical for this far in the season. Holidays, injuries and illness come out in force. Being one of the hottest Saturdays we've had so far, losing the toss and going out to bowl first wasn't ideal! Nevertheless, the fielding and bowling from the lads yesterday was incredible (albeit a massive struggle too with so many gaps to cover). Shout out to Yadhu for getting 4 wickets - amazing work!

The Yadhu love isn't stopping there... 👀

He then went on to get his maiden 50, then as if that wasn't good enough, finished on 107 not out whilst putting on a 134 partnership with the skipper.

A few decisions went against us yesterday - mix that in with crazy hot weather and 2 men short! But throughout, the boys did Stapleford proud! They showed so much character and togetherness to come very close to getting an unlikely win.
