East Region Cup

We travelled up to Scone Thistle 2013 today to play the 1st Round of the Regional Cup.

Unfortunately it was probably the flattest performance I have seen from us as we were well beaten by Scone .......just too many players off the boil today and something we need to work on as a group.

We lacked a certain hunger today and lost out on too many 1st and 2nd balls, then when we did get it we struggled to get it under control and play some football.

Credit due to Scone - they wanted it more, played good football.and took their chances well.

We dust ourselves off and look to try to get some consistency in our game

Players Player of the Match - Harry ...... he was the the one player that showed he wanted and was endless in his pressing and covering back .....some shift from him today 💪

Jack also deserves a mention for being the one player to put his foot on the ball and trying to get us playing 🌟

Not the result we wanted but that is football ....... we learn, we work hard and we go again

Colts 4 - 1 Lochee United 2013s

We played Lochee in our league campaign opener last night ..... was a great night for a game of football ..... amd what a cracking game it was.

We started brightly enough putting Lochee under pressure with our high press and created a few chances ...... and the press paid off on the 9th minute with Edward latching onto a loose ball and finishing past the keeper.
Lochee then came back into and had a few chances with their fast striker who kept our defence on their toes.
Both teams had chances to increase the scoring but 1st half finished with the game on a knife edge
HT 1-0⚽️

2nd half we again started well and looked to get ball down and moving ..... with Kai scoring 5 mins after the restart with a fast break and great composure to take it past the keeper⚽️
Atholl added a 3rd chasing a long clearance and taking his chance when ball broke to him⚽️
We had a tactical meeting on Monday night and a big part of that was to show more aggression and drive to win the tackle, block the shot and win the 50/50 ...... kids did that all night and wqs a real step change for us ...... maybe went to far as River picked up the teams 1st red card (for 2 yellows)🔴 🫣
Lochee then pressed home their advantage scoring just 3 minutes later from a good shot from the edge of the area.
At this stage we were looking to take the sting out the game and see it out ..... but then up popped Arne to head on a corner with a few minutes to go ⚽️
FT 4-1

Delighted with the performance tonight .... too often we can play good football but don't do the dirty stuff well .... tonight they managed to battle hard and showed some great physicality, while still playing how we want to.

Credit to Lochee ..... they got the ball down and tried to play football ..... if 1 or 2 of their earlier chances went in it could have been a different game ..... however they made it a great game for the spectators to watch as both teams went for it 💪

Players Player of the Match ...... Joshua ..... such a colossus at the back and calming influence on defence 💪

Coaches Player of the Match..... Christian .... set the tone and covered every blade of grass .... and looked to retain possession and get us forward quickly 👏

To be fair to kids though it was a real team performance with everyone taking on board what we asked and delivinging.
Also delighted at impact of subs as they looked come on and make a difference 🌟

Next up is our Regional Cup tie v Scone Thistle 2013 on Sunday 🏆

🏆League Season Opener 🏆

This Tuesday we have our 1st league game of the season against Lochee United 2013s.

Both teams will be trying hard to come away with 3pts and get the league campaign off to a flyer 💪

Colts 7 - 4 Tayport

We played Tayport Community Football Club in our final group match in League Cup - with the winner going through in what is a big Derby match for the kids

We know the Tayport kids well having played them twice last year in cups and also a few ex Colts in their ranks 💪

We had a much changed starting line up with Atholl, Kerr, Edward and Jack all missing - so a good chance for others to stake their claim for a starting slot.

1st half we didn't hit the heights we can - looked comfortable enough but just lacked a little composure on the ball but did limit Tayport to very few chances and we took ours.
HT - 4-0

2nd half we made 4 changes at half time - and in hindsight it was too much to change 3 of our back 4 in one go .... we just seemed to struggle to find our rhythm in 2nd half and defensively probably poorest I have seen us in a long time ......struggled to clear our lines and win the 1st ball.
Kids know they can and will play better 💪

Credit to Tayport - match could have ran away from them but they rallied and put in a battling performance in 2nd half 👏
Great to see that team doing well and I'm sure they will have another great season 🏆

Players Player of the Match ..... Harry ...... looked lively and dangerous ...... what a run and set up for Rory's goal 👏 (also great to see Rory taking the risk and getting on the end of it)

Also delighted Christian got 2 ...... our midfield hasn't been scoring enough so pushing them to break forward and shoot from distance more 👏

Next up we have Lochee United 2013s in our opening league match on Tuesday and Scone Thistle 2013 the following Sunday in Regional Cup duty

Next up is our final group match v Tayport Community Football Club ..... with the winner earning a place in the next round and more importantly bragging rights at school 🤣
