If you managed to do something today whilst feeling anxious, "well done to you!" 👏👏 But if the anxiety was just too strong today, please be kind to yourself 😊

Did you set yourself an intention for 2026 that you would get a handle on the anxiety that has stopped you from living life the way you want to? But maybe things got in the way. Maybe your time was limited. Maybe you felt you couldn't justify the cost. Or maybe, you just hoped it would go away. If you ignored the places, people or activities that made you feel anxious, then you wouldn't have to deal with the uncomfortable feelings.

Honestly, how's that working out?

For some people, even just meeting a friend for a cup of coffee can feel like a daunting task rather than a fun activity. The problem is, when we avoid feeling anxious, it just means our life gets smaller and smaller; often before we've even realised it.

What could the last six months have looked like if your brain wasn't making you question everything? Where would you have been? What would you have done? Who would you have seen?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a gentle yet effective form of therapy that typically works faster than some other therapies. Book your free initial consultation to learn more by using the link in my bio or by commenting TODAY.

Perimenopause causes some awful symptoms with sleep disruption being just one of them!

Waking at 3am, worrying about every little thing whilst also feeling like the rest of the world is fast asleep can feel incredibly isolating. It also means that we wake in the morning feeling exhausted, with no capacity to deal with whatever the day has in store. I’ve been there. It makes everything so much harder. 😫

Getting sleep patterns working more effectively is one of the first things I work on with clients because we know how important sleep is to good mental health. I provide clients with an audio recording that they can listen to when it’s time to go to sleep. It’s so effective, I even had a husband of a client comment on how much better he was also now sleeping as he listened to it with his wife.

Good quality sleep is vital for our mental and physical health but hormone changes in perimenopause can make it difficult to get the quality and quantity of sleep we need.

If you’d like to give my audio recording a go please feel free to DM me and I’ll send you the link 😊

😔 Do you get a horrible sinking feeling on a Sunday evening? Knowing that the weekend is nearly over and it'll soon be Monday morning? 😔

You're not alone. Sunday nights can be uncomfortable for many of us; worrying about everything you have to get done in the week ahead, or not knowing what the week will hold for you. When we feel overwhelmed, it can be difficult to get a good night's sleep. You'll wake on Monday morning feeling exhausted, before the week has even begun!

If this sounds familiar, then please join me next Sunday evening, 21st June, for my Sunday Night Reset online workshop. Together, we'll help you have a greater understanding of what's happening in our brains when we feel overwhelmed, and we'll create a mini-action plan to help you feel in control for the week ahead. We'll end with a guided relaxation to help you get a good night's sleep so that you wake on Monday feeling relaxed, motivated and ready for the week ahead.

Sounds good?...

Tickets cost just ÂŁ10, and you can secure your place using the link in my bio or by commenting RESET.

Sunday nights don't have to feel this way.

When those anxious feelings start to rise, reaching for your phone as a distraction can feel good in the moment, but it could actually make anxiety worse later on.

👉 When we distract ourselves from uncomfortable thoughts, we're telling our brain that it was right to be fearful. We know logically that thoughts on their own aren't dangerous.

👉Distraction can make those thoughts worse. It's like being told not to think of a pink elephant, chances are, a pink elephant is exactly what comes to mind! The harder you try to stop thinking about something, the more intrusive that thought becomes.

👉Relying on distraction prevents you from discovering effective ways to self-soothe.

Instead of reaching for your phone, try...

⚡️Voicing your fear. Talking out loud about what your fearful of can help put it into perspective.

⚡️Anxiety lives in the future, so bring yourself back to the present with a grounding technique such as finding 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste.

⚡️Box breathing can be a great way to calm your nervous system. Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, breathe out for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts.

🚘 Driving Anxiety 🚘

Does getting in the car to drive fill you with dread? Do you play worst-case scenarios about the drive over and over in your head? Do you feel exhausted after driving because you’ve been so anxious? Or have you hung up your car keys for good? Deciding that the anxiety driving causes is no longer worth it.

I know how frustrating it is.

I’ve worked successfully with many clients who have found driving terrifying. They may have never really enjoyed driving, and that anxiety has built over time, or it may be a sudden onset of anxiety that they didn’t see coming. However, it presents itself, please know that you are not alone. It’s a common cause of anxiety, particularly, in my experience, for women.

Some clients have actually come to me for completely different reasons, and it’s only when we start working that we realise there’s a fear of driving. Our brain naturally wants to avoid things that make us anxious, and so for some, it can be easy to reason their way out of driving rather than accepting the fear and the effect it’s having on their life.

“Well… the bus is convenient”

“Well… my partner loves driving anyway”

“Well… I don’t need to go to the big out-of-town supermarket, I can walk to the local one”

All of a sudden, life can get pretty small.

Am I going to help you become a world-class rally driver? No. But that’s not the aim. The aim is to get you living life the way you want to.

Imagine being able to get to work in your own car, driving out to the big supermarket or jumping in the car to visit a friend, all without fear, without really even thinking about it. It just becomes part of your day.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a gentle yet incredibly effective form of therapy for helping people to combat driving anxiety. If you’d like to learn how, please message me, and we can book in a free initial consultation.

So how do you change the way you see things? How do you begin to focus on all the good things in your life?

✨You start small✨

Each day, take just a few minutes to write down a couple of good things. Things that have made you smile. Things that have made you feel accomplished. It might be:

- A text from a friend
- Enjoying a warm cup of coffee
- Sorting out that junk drawer
- Updating your CV
- Taking 10 minutes to start that book you’ve been wanting to read
- Getting your ideal parking space

There are no rules. It’s just whatever you feel has been good for you.

By writing them down, we engage numerous parts of our brain to help us remember those good things and the positive feelings associated with them.

Try for the next seven days to write down what’s been good and see what difference it makes to you.

Has anxiety been in control, telling you what you can or can’t do for months? Maybe even years?

One thing I hear from clients over and over again is that they wish they’d sought support earlier. Many people believe that anxiety is just a phase that will pass if they ignore it. Some don't feel that they deserve support.

If anxiety is stopping you from living your life, then how long are you willing to wait? Wouldn’t it be better to regain control and start living your life now?

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a gentle yet highly effective therapy that enables you to regain control so that anxiety isn't making your decisions for you.

If you are done with anxiety having the ultimate say in how you live your life, then use the link in my bio to book a free initial consultation to learn how solution-focused hypnotherapy can help you today.

When we feel stressed and overwhelmed our brains want to focus on the negative things in life, it thinks that by doing so it’s keeping us safe. However, changing our focus and noticing the positive things can, over time, help us to feel calmer and happier. A simple way to do this is to write down a few things each night that have made you happy during the day and they don’t have to be big things. Some things I’ve written down this week include:

- Folding a pile of washing that’s been sitting around for way too long
- Coffee & chat with a good friend
- The sun! Oh, the sun ☀️
- Receiving a great update from a client

Even on the worst day, there will be something that’s been good. It may just take you longer to recognise it!

Practice makes perfect. The more we do this, the more we’re training our brain to look for the positives and the easier it will be to notice them.

And it you’re a stationery addict like me then it’s also a great excuse for buying a new notebook!

Give it a try or save this tip as a reminder to look for the positives when life feels overwhelming.
