We will be Saltwater Beach Cafe tomorrow between 10am to midday, with a range of new and occasionally used wetsuits, ranging from £5-£20 pounds to sell off quickly old school kit. These include summer shorties, winter full length from kids to 2XXL sizes

2 women’s tri swimming suits, small and medium.

We have a few buoyancy aids and brand new quick release waist belts, super important kit for those who paddle board. They are brand new in a box £10.

Unfortunately due to high predicted offshore winds estimated to be gusting 37mph we have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming inflatable race due to safety.

We waited to see if the weather would clear but sadly it did not. Everyone that entered will receive refunds next week and we will look into rescheduling later in the year.

Thank you to everyone that booked to come along but safety is our priority

30 degrees predicted this Saturday, low winds.☀️

We have spaces on our SUP improver session at 1130am with one of our advanced qualified instructors.
We are fully booked for both days for all other sessions.

This session is designed to improve confidence, paddle stroke and technique especially in local Estuary conditions.

If you head to the beach, & don’t feel as confident as you do on The Chelmer or other local waterways this is the perfect way to develop.

What have we been up to for the past 6 weeks.

A fair bit.🏄🏼‍♀️🏖️🏄🏼🤙
We have raced at Christchurch & Falmouth in the GBSUP National Series , toured and of course enjoyed great lessons at our HQ Chalkwell Beach.

We have some lesson availability in July, also added a new session for August.

Don’t forget that we have our annual 106 inflatable fun race for RNLI on Saturday August 31st.

Saltwater SUP 5th 10’6 Inflatable Race

Saturday 31st August 2024

This is one of our favourite events in our calendar - the 10’6 Inflatable race. This will see participants all racing on the same inflatable boards competing around a 500m circuit along Chalkwell Beach.

This is a fun race suitable for people that are regular racers all the way to people that are racing for the first time. We supply the boards (and paddles if you need one).

After the race we will be doing the Saltwater SUP relay race with inflatable animals.

There will be full briefings on the beach about the rules and safety from the Race Directors, as well as safety cover.

All the activities will start around 10:00am and this is an all day event. Bring friends, family and spectators as it is just as fun to watch as it is to compete in.

Love paddle boarding or the idea of paddleboarding.
Head to the beach and you are watching people serenely paddling up and down the sea front.
You really want to try, however are worried, what do I do if I fall in, can’t stand up, there are some swimmers and also there is a jetty?
Or want to paddle around the beach head but do know if the tide is going in or out, will the wind take you out to sea?

We have been teaching at Chalkwell Beach since 2017, our favourite paddling destination is the sea.
We will teach you all the skills and techniques, the little tips to get you going and if you are experienced advanced your paddleboarding ability to manage even choppy waters.
We teach 3 sessions

Taster / for beginners or people with some experience

Improvers -
aimed at people who have paddled however do not feel they are quite there, or more experienced paddlers who want to learn stronger paddle techniques for efficiency, power, up skilling their turns and even step back turns on the sea. We tailor the session to the ability of each person.
This is a great add on if you have taken BSUPA’s Ready to Ride on flat water and want looking to develop your skills on the sea, or have your own board and want to make the most of your experience on your board on your local water

Ready to Tour Open Sea BSUPA course

A fantastic 3 hour course teaching you how to SUP tour and explore but offer more than an experience.
The course is ‘skill and knowledge focused’ aiming to give students a safe way of getting more time on the water.
Navigate obstacles and third parties afloat taking into account, flow, weather and any other elements.
Plan a trip taking into account weather, flow, tide, access, 3rd parties, exit options, have understanding of personal equipment you might take with you when touring.
Ultimately that you learn how to plan, complete and experience touring confidently.

We stripped back our teaching to cover the main paddling areas for people 14+ to maximise the most wonderful and fastest growing sport in the U.K.

We are proud to announce the Saltwater SUP Summer Technical Race at Chalkwell Beach on 24th August 2024.

The course layout is based on a "Fingertips layout" which will really make turns fast, furious and exciting.

Novices are anyone that has been racing for less than 1 year, everyone else is defined as a Racer. All novices races will be given free coaching prior to starting the race - details to follow in your paddle packs.

The Novice race will be roughly 5.5km and the Racers will be 11.5km. The finalised course route will be communicated in your paddler before the start of the race on 20th August 2024.

Categories will be:
• 14ft and under Hardboard
• 14ft and under Inflatables.
Cost is just £10 (plus £1 admin)

Registrations are now open until 22 Aug 2024.

All profits from the race will be donated to the RNLI.

Race registration will be from 2pm-3pm on the beach in front of Saltwater Beach Cafe. Race briefing will be conducted at 3:30pm. Racing will start at 3:45pm and will be in waves.

We hope as many of you turn up for the race to participate otherwise come along and watch the fun.

We get asked a lot of questions about when is it safe to paddle on the sea, what is the best time to launch, can I get to Mulberry Harbour, how much experience do I need, even where has the water gone.

All are legitimate questions and with enough experience and knowledge you can plan trips and paddle safely to lots of exciting destinations. You can understand how and when to go, more importantly when not to go.

Why take the Ready to Tour 3 hour Level 2 paddleboarding course?

We teach BSUPA’s Ready to Tour, adapting to tidal coastal paddling to teach you understanding of tour planning, tides & winds, hazards & safety, navigating obstacles and third parties afloat taking into account, flow, weather, access, exit options and any other elements.

This 3 hour course combines theory on land along with a practical paddle to check visual clues in what you have learnt whilst working on your technique.

If you are planning a tour, wanting to paddle when you are on holiday, if this is where you are at, Ready to Tour is an excellent choice to plan these journeys.

Saltwater SUP Open Water Tech Race 24.02.2024

On Saturday we held our first technical race at Chalkwell beach. Despite the cold, winter weather we had 18 people sign up for the race. Conditions were spectacular which allowed for some great racing.
