Today’s cup game saw us take on Bournemouth electric. Currently 2 from 2 in the competition, we were hungry to continue.
We started the game extremely strong, piling on the pressure from the off and creating plenty of chances that we unfortunately just couldn’t convert, and saw ourselves go into the first break a goal down after an unbelievable strike from an opposing player, against the run of play.
At the break, Millbrook were asked to just keep doing what they were doing, and they would eventually reap the rewards. We managed to get back on level terms after being awarded a penalty, which was won, and then cooly slotted home by junior.
The third period was where Millbrook really turned it on. Once again, lumping on the pressure, creating chance after chance, playing beautiful football when they could, and being direct when they needed to. We eventually got ourselves ahead when Freddie took the ball under control, drew 2 opposing players in, and slotted the ball right into the path of Ralph who rifled it home. A few minutes later similar happened, Fred once again took control of the ball, stood strong and firm and laid it off to junior who wrapped the ball into the far post to seal a well deserved result.
MOTM - Freddie - a performance that can only be described as magical. His forward play was just pure excellence! Holding up the ball and bringing people into play, being direct and driving his team up the pitch, chasing, tracking, pressing. The passes to carve open the opposition defence were pinpoint every single time and earned himself 2 beautiful assists. He truly had it all today. Well done Freddie!
