Stockton Juniors FC - U12 Spitfires - 2025/26

A score draw yesterday - in what may prove to be our last game of the season - as we are not sure how many team progress from the group. We finish up second in our group barring a miracle in one other group fixture - not involving us - that has yet to be played.

Set-pieces once again proved to be our kryptonite, and spoil what would have been another near perfect performance. Going forwards we looked dangerous and had a certain flow about us, whereby through midfield and defence the boys batted and stood firm to thwart any opposition attacks. BUT... it was two set-pieces that caught us out - one with just a couple of minutes left to play - meaning we sit tight and wait to see what happens now.

Regardless of the outcome, what a great season these boys have had; whilst treating those on the sidelines to some seriously high levels of football at times.

Josh & Noah shared the spoils for POTM this week; both showed determination and resilience to try and prevent any attacking play against our backline. Well done both!

The Spitfires treated us to the performance of the season last night; and one that keeps our trophy run alive for at least one more game! When the boys play like this they really do create something magical - this against a team in the Tier / Division above us!

For us coaches - as good as the football on the pitch was to watch - it was great to see the team camaraderie in full flow. Encouragement was the 'buzz' word and the task we set the boys last night... and boy did they deliver! This allowed every one of the boys to play football with a freedom to express themselves; with no need to worry about making a mistake or bad decision. Bravo boys! Bravo! Hopefully this level continues into the next game on Sunday.

POTM was a shared tonight - with every player leaving everything on the pitch it wasn't easy - but we went for Rory & Ollie. Both were determined to impress this evening and deserved their goals - as much as the medals - as a reward! Well done boys; well done team!

Defeat in the last 20 seconds - from a corner again 🤦🏽‍♂️- didn't do the boys justice really as a draw may have been a fair result overall on the day, but no complaints on a blustery day with only 9x players (no subs). Those that were available dug deep and did really well against a much stronger Cov Phoenix team than we have played previously.

One of the main highlights of the game was our goal - no bias needed - that came from a strike from distance. A clearance from an attacking corner was hit with blistering power by Ben on the edge of the box!

Noah's rugged determination to keep battling for the ball throughout and never giving up on any tackles the other key highlight from our perspective; and enough to take todays Player of the Match award!

We go again in the trophy next weekend when we aim to put ourselves back into contention! Lets Go Spitfires!!

🔴⚫WOW! 🔴⚫The Spitfire boys efforts have not gone unnoticed! 😎

Fresh off a huge local derby match himself; the legend that is Jacob Murphy, sent his congratulations and best of luck wishes to the team! Such an amazing gesture and the boys were absolutely buzzing when they saw this... thanks to everyone who made this happen.

We send our best wishes back to Jacob & Newcastle United for the remainder of their season!

It was our final league game of the season today and The Spitfires put on a fabulous display of football against arguably the best team in the league. It may be cliché, but football was the winner today, as two teams who play football the right way went head-to-head.

Everyone put in 100% effort and a draw was the fair result overall it has to be said. Finley showing us his competitive edge and desire to win today with a non-stop performance from start to finish.

We now wait and see where out efforts leave us with other fixtures still to be played, but regardless of the outcome, these boys have a great future together and will only go from strength to strength!

Our attentions now turn to The Supplementary Cup which starts next weekend...

Not a good day for Spitfires today as we fell to one of our biggest title competitors. The scoreline maybe flatters Nuneaton, but we didn't take our chances in the first half and that ultimately led to defeat on the road. One very important game left for us - in the league - now as we take on Coventry Ajax U13 Girls next weekend...

We were up against the current 2nd placed team this morning as we took on Coventry Phoenix Youth. With a couple of key players - who also bring lots of character with them on matchday - missing for us... and playing on a pitch that was in desperate need of a cut, we were fearing a hangover from last weekend.

However... The Spitfires turned up and smashed it. Every one of them battled to bring home the points today and deserved praise! Nevertheless, playing in the most difficult area on the pitch, we did select both full-backs for todays POTM. Their perseverance and determination to overcome the insanely long grass on the flanks warranted the nod as much as the performance from both was top class!

With only two games left for us now, our fate currently lies in our own hands... and next up - Nuneaton Borough Away!

A tough day at the office - as we let our grip at the top of the league slip a little - with defeat to Racing Club Gold. A game dominated by Spitfires in all honesty, but Racing Club took all of their chances to walk away with victory today!

Three must win games coming up now - in which case we will remain at the summit - but they are games against the teams in 2nd, 3rd & 4th in the league currently... of course they are! 🙄

Back on the grass at our Home today in Stockton for what proved to be a very tight game decided by some really well-worked goals... most of them anyway 😉

With 12 minutes left to play the score sat at 1-1 and - despite us having the majority of possession and hitting the woodwork three times - we were worried it wasn't going to go for us today! However, the boys remained calm and patient to secure another 3 points and chalk another game off the remaining games to be caught at the top. Still lots to play for with some big games to come... but us coaches are very proud of the Spitfires today!!

Wow, what a game! What a result too! Other than a - quite frankly - insane last 10 minutes of the first half we looked to be in control of this game; but a draw maybe a fair result overall as two teams vying for Tier 1 football went head-to-head today! We had 2 definite contenders for goal of the season too 😎 Onto the next... 5 to go.

Although all played well and gave us coaches a real headache for rotation of subs today... it was our youngest and most recent signing - looking right at home in this squad - who took the limelight with a sublime assist for the first goal... and an even more sublime direct free-kick for his goal. Well done Greg!
