COUNTY CUP
Red Hackle 4 - 1 Horden Comrades FC
A well contested game saw the boys come out on top and we wish the Horden lads all the best for the season. A canny bunch of lads and made the effort to come back to the bar and have a drink with us, great to see.
Anyways…enough of all the nice crack, we played a game where we scored 4 and didn’t concede as many, what a day to be alive.
First home game of the season for the lads and we started electric which is such a common theme this season, first 20 minutes we kept the ball, played it around and got our rewards. After some sloppiness or maybe tactical play 🤔 we found ourselves defending a corner. Defended it well and hit on the break, a underhit back pass to the keeper latched onto by Michael Monks Madgin, heard he’s at Gills now waiting for his fish to go with the chip 🍟. 1-0. ⚽️
Kicking the sitting back trend we’ve made this season 1 quickly became 2 when we won the ball back in the middle after some great pressing, Shaun Ravenhall played the ball through to Monks who slotted it home to double the scoreline. 2-0 ⚽️.
Now normally when you go 2-0 in a game, the teams happy, playing well, full of encouragement. Not today, early on set sun stroke for Jay Simpson, trying to argue and fight with anyone that has a pulse, referee got it, their team got it, our team got it, even the poor gaffa’s got a bit of abuse.. for what seemed like it was for basically nothing. 🤷♂️ anger management course heading Jays way.
Another thing I’d like to ask is that everyone keeps Stephen Loan in their thoughts, he doesn’t get hangovers so the three pints he had last night couldn’t have been the reason for the no show with a bad head 🥴 Big Baby.
Moving into the second half the Horden lot started to put some pressure on but for the first time this season the defence stood firm to the task. The few occasions they broke through the cat 🐈⬛ Sean Mills stood strong 💪🏼 and an outstanding goal line tackle from Glenn Kidger.
The next bit of action was bizarre, hackle attacking when Shay Robson stood on the keepers toe.. but the keeper had just got his Bobby dazzlers so obviously wanted to tell Shay he was pure shan cos he loves his new boots and whilst he was at it thought he’d show Shay his new handbag that he’d got in the sale for a mint price, but Shays a lad with great taste. His handbag was bigger and better. 👜 All while comparing bags the game was still being played, monks played a cross ball to Thomas Leggett who made no mistake into an empty net. Always play to the whistle 👀🤷♂️. 3-0⚽️.
Last but not least, in the dying embers of the game we won a corner which Ryan Lindsay delivered on the left peg, which was met brilliantly by Andy Dunwoodie in a moment where it looked like he was ready to kill to make sure he got there. Bullet header, keeper had no chance. 4-0⚽️.
Horden managed to pull one back in unfortunate circumstances with a corner that Millsy went to punch, unluckily hitting Kyle Hudson and rebounding in. Now Kyle’s been outstanding this season and didn’t deserve the rotten luck, so we’ve decided that it’s only fair to count it as his own goal. Unlucky pal. 4-1.
All in all a good performance from the boys and a well contested game. Wish the Horden lads all the best for the season and for the Sunday session 👍.
