In 2026 we saw our biggest women’s field yet, with 53 riders taking to the start and representing 20% of the field. While it’s a far cry from an equal startline, many remarked that it felt different to line up amongst so many women.

For 2027, we’ll be allocating 25% of the spaces on the startline to women in hopes of increasing our number from last year. If we don’t see that number during the initial application window, we will leave women’s applications open until we reach our target.

Applications have been rolling in for AMR 2027. We’re often asked what we look for when reviewing them, and while there are no specific entry requirements, we do want to see plenty of experience in big mountain settings, preferably solo. Mountaineering, trail running, hiking or multi-day bikepacking trips are all relevant here.

This race is an adventure, and things will not go to plan. Fitness on the bike is certainly part of it, but the ability to problem-solve and adapt when the route, the weather or the bike throws something unexpected at you is what allows riders to thrive. Sorting your own mechanicals, riding through the highs and the lows, making good decisions when you’re tired and alone: those are the skills that pay dividends in the Atlas mountains.

Last year was supposed to be a year of change, and it was, but not the change that we all expected. Record snowfall in the mountains meant that we never actually rode the route I had envisaged for the race and ended up on an unexpected adventure born out of some pretty extreme weather conditions. In 2027, we go again, a little later in the year, after Ramadan, from the 13th-20th of March. Hopefully we will be able to visit the places I wanted to take you all last year, key amongst them the gorges of M’Goun.

The only notable change from last year’s route is that the start is moved from Beni Mellal to Ouzoud, a place more suited to accommodate a large group of bikepackers and a great stepping off point into the Middle Atlas.

There will be no shortage of roads like these at AMR 2027. Applications open on Friday the 26th June and will remain until 10th July.

All details on how to apply will be released on our website later this week, though it will be the same process as previous editions. We do expect that we will once again be oversubscribed, so if you have applied and been waitlisted in the past, please make sure to tell us on your application.

We are ready to announce the dates for the seventh edition of the Atlas Mountain Race. It’ll take place a little later than usual as Ramadan takes place February 7-March 8 this year. The race will begin on March 13, 2027.

Applications open on June 26 until July 10th, with successful applicants notified by July 24th.

There will be plenty more details shared in the coming weeks, but for now mark your calendars for the 26th, as we expect the forthcoming edition to once again be oversubscribed and we will not be accepting any late applications.

The Atlas Mountain Race 2026 results are now live. You can find the link in our bio.

124 riders finished within the General Classification, with a further three outside it. Of the 263 who took to the start, 47% made it to the finish, likely a reflection of the extreme weather conditions riders faced in the early days of the race.

Race Director Nelson Trees has reviewed every track on the race map, cross-referenced dotwatcher reports, and accounted for all information received during and after the race. A small number of riders received a time adjustment for the wind detour before CP1, not a penalty, but a measure applied in the interest of fairness to those who rode the original route. Two riders whose partners scratched went on to finish solo, and one rider completed the course with outside assistance. All three receive a completion and finishing time outside the General Classification.

The results are split into finishing times as they happened during the race, followed by the full GC across Solo Men, Solo Women, Solo Non-Binary and Pairs.

Thank you to all who took part! We’ll be announcing the dates for AMR 2027 in the coming weeks, along with when registration will open.
