16 club members made the short trip to RNLI Burnham-on-Sea last night for the last of our winter social events. We were treated to a fantastic insight of the station and its volunteers, led by crew members (and BCYC Powerboat Instructors) Nathan Meager and Dan Fear).
It was blowing 30kn+ and freezing cold when we watched both lifeboats on a beach training launch, but a warm welcome and fish&chip supper awaited us at Burnham-on-Sea Sailing Club.
Overall a lovely evening and thanks go to everyone involved šŸ‘

A fun weekend learning rescue techniques on our RYA Safety Boat course. Big thanks to RNLI Burnham for the loan of their rescue dummy ā€œDead Fredā€, which convinced our students that getting full-size people back into boats is far harder than it looks!
Well done to all our students on your new qualification - Martin, Pete, Julia and Dan.
The next RYA Safety Boat course at Cheddar will be in October.
