"I signed up to explore the idea of becoming a counsellor one day. What I didn't expect was how much it would elevate the way I show up every day.

My biggest takeaways from the course have been:

Empathy always wins. In every situation, the greatest gift you can give someone, including yourself, is empathy.

Curiosity is the new assertiveness. I started my corporate career back in 2010, when being assertive was considered the key to success. Today, it's about curiosity, understanding people on a personal level, and leading with unconditional positive regard.

The power of silence. Giving someone the space to think, reflect, and absorb, without rushing to fill it, is one of the most valuable tools you can have.

Sitting with someone through their feelings is a privilege, and not something I take lightly.

And finally… I can do it. I can balance my job, being a mum, and life in general with studying and homework. So, I'm going to keep going and start Level 3 next month."
