π₯ Sensei Frank Pullano (6th Dan) - WHAT KARATE HAS GIVEN ME
Karate has been part of my life for over 40 years.
When I first stepped into a dojo, I could never have imagined where that journey would take me β or the impact Karate would have on the person I would become.
Of course, Karate taught me how to punch, kick, move, defend myself and compete.
But those aren't the things I value most.
Karate gave me discipline!
It taught me to turn up even when I didn't feel like it. To keep training when things were difficult. To understand that progress doesn't happen overnight β it's earned through consistency.
Karate gave me resilience!
I've experienced wins, losses, setbacks and disappointments. Karate taught me that failure isn't the end of the journey. You learn from it, you get back up, and you go again.
Karate gave me confidence!
Not the confidence of thinking you're better than somebody else, but the quiet confidence that comes from knowing you've worked hard, faced challenges and pushed yourself beyond what you thought you could do.
Karate gave me purpose!
Over the years, my passion has changed from what I could achieve to what I can help other people achieve.
That's one of the biggest reasons behind Quest Karate Club.
Today, one of my greatest rewards is seeing a nervous child walk through our doors for their first class and, over time, watching them become more confident, disciplined and resilient.
Seeing a child discover what they're capable of.
Watching an athlete achieve something they once thought was impossible.
Or seeing an adult step outside their comfort zone and realise it's never too late to start.
π Medals are fantastic.
π₯ Belts and grades are important.
π Competition success should be celebrated.
But eventually, medals gather dust and belts get put away.
The person Karate helps you become stays with you forever.
After more than four decades in martial arts, that's what Karate means to me.
It has given me friendships, experiences, challenges, memories and opportunities that I wouldn't exchange for anything.
Most importantly, it has given me the opportunity to pass those lessons on to the next generation.
That's what I want Quest Karate Club to represent.
Not simply a place where we teach people how to fight.
A place where we use Karate to help people become stronger, more confident and more resilient β on the mat and in everyday life.
π₯ Karate has given me so much!!
Now my job is to give something back!
