Rare local chance to take a step back in time

⚔️ What will you discover in our Saxon Village?

The Vikings are coming to Polesworth — but before the battle begins, there will be plenty to explore!

At our Viking Raid & Heritage Weekend on 12th & 13th September, step into the world of Anglo-Saxon Polesworth and discover some of the skills and crafts of the people who lived here.

🪙 Have a go at making a coin
✒️ Try your hand at calligraphy
🎵 Discover early musical instruments
🛡️ Find out about shields and armour
🔥 Visit the Viking camp and hearth
⚔️ Then watch The Big Battle of Polesworth

Activities begin from 12 noon, with battles at 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The story begins with the Viking raids of 873, but it doesn't end there.

From raiders to neighbours.

Put 12th & 13th September in your diary and come and see history brought to life at your Abbey.

What an excellent "not too" sort of day
Not too hot, too cold, too windy, too sunny for a not too long competition.
And all going on as same time as the beginners course.
