Filey tournament!!
2 days of football against some very good teams
Unbeaten in both group stages
2 finals
2 runners up medals
Day 1 we was placed in group A against some very good teams and we got off to flying start winning our first game 2-0 against ecclesfield red rose whites, Our second game we came up against wallsend boys club yellows in a end to end game which shown the boys work rate shine. After going being 3 times the game ended 3-3. Our 3rd game the boys started strong again and went 2-0 very quick. After a shakey second half we managed to get our 3rd goal and win 3-2 against wisewood juniors. Our last group match we face Bolsover town which we managed to win 1-0. We finished the group stages in 2nd place with 10 points missing out on 1st on goal difference!
In the semifinals we played the winners of group B and just like the rest of the games the lads showed we wasn’t just here to participate and walked away with a comfortable 2-0 win
FINAL! We faced wallsend boys club for the second time of the day! we conceded a early goal and despite all the lads hard work we lost the final 1-0
Day 2 seen us placed in group A again with all the main finalists from day 1. I told the boys it’s going to be a tough day so give 110% and enjoy it and they did more than that!!
Game 1 we played Sheffield Rangers scoring an early goal. We created chance after chance even hitting the woodwork in the last minute but only managed a 1-1 draw. Game 2 we played the winners of the second tournament from day 1 city of Sheffield Golds and the boys carried on their performance from day one and walked away with a comfortable 2-0 win. Game 3 we played a strong physical team in tibby tigers and this is where the boys raised their game a notch and managed to walk away with a 3-0 win!
Our 4th game of the group stages wasn’t needed as ourselves and wallsend boys club had already secured 1st and second which meant we met again in the final for the second time!!
And what a final it was. The game was end to end and full of chances to the point where all the other parents from the previous team came over to watch this game. After a fast start We managed to get the first goal and came in at half time 1-0. We told the boys to keep their heads and give it their all for the last 6 mins. Then second half started like the first half and both teams playing great football and creating chances. Wallsend boys managed to bring it level at 1-1. This didn’t get the boys down and straight from the kick off we created and excellent chance. Both keepers having to pull off some great saves to keep the score 1-1. With 8 seconds to go and the last kick off the game wallsend boys managed to get their second goal and win the game 2-1. The kids were heartbroken but the parents of both teams was full of praise for the boys and made sure they felt just as much as winners as the other team
Honestly couldn’t have asked anymore of the boys this weekend. They all gave 110% and battled against some very good teams. Two finals against the same team both days but unfortunately we didn’t get the wins.
