Who’s coming down to support us for the Steel City Showdown Playoff Finals?🐝

On this date in 2006 a small group of people stepped onto the ice at the old Sutton Centre rink, and from there Sutton Sting was formed.

Our first club game was some 5 months later at U10 level against our near neighbours in Nottingham.

During these 20 years we’ve maintained our fundamental principle of “Let the kids play” and what some may see as a disadvantage, have used the excellent small ice facilities we have available at Sutton to our advantage.

During these 20 years we’ve provided ice hockey opportunities and development to close to 2000 players. This includes players who have represented GB, England, Elite League, National League and NIHL levels.

From that very first U10s game, 6 of those players continue to play in our senior team who are currently enjoying their most successful season and still have the opportunity to complete the treble having yesterday qualified for the NIHL2 Divisional final game at the Steel City Showdown, after previously securing the League title and cup.

A huge thanks to everyone who has been part of our journey, our team of volunteers past and present and the support and friends we’ve made in the hockey community during this time.
