3 Pilates MYTHS you need to stop believing if you want to improve:
1. You have to be flexible to do Pilates
WRONG! Pilates is designed to suit all bodies regardless of flexibility - in fact, flexibility is one thing that will improve the more you practice. The right instructor will be able to modify classes to suit your body, and you should never settle for less.
2. You have to practice 3 times a week.
Again, not only is this unrealistic for some people, but it creates unnecessary pressure. Practicing Pilates once a week is better than not at all! We get it - life gets in the way sometimes. As long as you show up, that's perfect!
3. If you don't feel the "burn" you're doing it wrong.
Sure, that "Pilates burn" makes us feel like we are working hard, but the principles of Pilates practice do not make this a necessity. Some exercises simply arent designed for this - they are designed for mobility, or balance, and are equally as important.
My most important takeaway? Your practice is just that - YOURS
Make Pilates work for you, not the other way around ๐
