Last game of the season and a strong desire to finish on a high, midtable security all ready gained meant we were already looking towards this teams 10th consecutive season in Div1 .
As it would ironically be we had a good mix of players available, something we haven't often had.
We started well from the get go with us instantly pushing forwards, good to see the wingback high up early on , infact the 3 of them over the game all enjoyed playing quite advanced. Gee had a chance early to score but the high bounce just prevented her converting. The tempo throughout the half was good as we played on the front foot. Our defence controlled the back line well when Pen*stone countered . Jass hit the bar and Abbey had a shot saved, intact Pen*stones keeper was the star turn for our guests making several good saves to keep things level. Sam , Holly and Annabelle got hold of midfield giving us a strong platform. Eventually pressure paid off as Abbey shot into the bottom corner and gave us the lead. A cruel twist saw Pen*stone level with us conceding an own goal but we didn't wobble.
Halftime level but the vibe was very positive going back out for the 2nd half.
Ruby went on up top with Elle tucked in behind in a changed forward line. 10mins in and Ruby had put us back in front, more good play good play brought more saves from Pen*stones keeper but Kim headed home to increase the lead, The game now theoretically was won and we played some relaxed football, Abbey got her second , our 4th , almost identical to her first with a neat finish into the same bottom corner. Abbey and keeper Mkllie swapped rolls and Millie almost got on the score sheet, a feat we'd probably not heard the end of but the final whistle went.
Smiles all round and some good positives good to see all the girls who played wingback getting high up and delivering some good crosses plus the way we played on what was a hot day with a now bouncy pitch.
We look forwards to next season with some shirts to now fill as the " Crosspool Crew" move on to Uni but send Jass, Georgia , Nina , Annabelle and Nell, plus Grace & Connie (last season) our thanks for their contributions and best wishes for their futures.
