Fishtoft 2-4 Devs

Goals;

A fantastic away performance in Boston from the devs gives us our first points away from home for the season.

We started off very poor and looked sluggish, conceding in the first 10 mins when a deflected effort from the edge found its way in the goal and we was lucky to only be 1 down.

We made a slight tactical change 15 mins in and some of our players appeared to wake up, this changed everything and from that point on we dominated the game. 25 mins in we was awarded a penalty for handball, Up steps Louis high to the keepers right, but the 6’4 fishtoft keeper sprung across and made a good save.

We finally found the equaliser when a fantastic piece of work from the ever threatening Hayward found Shipley at the back post who dually obliged with a powerful finish into the net. 1-1.

We then found our second on 37 minutes when Louis finally got his goal after a few chances when Haywards shot was saved and parried into Louis’ path 2-1.

We started off the second half well, but was nearly unstuck with a couple Rory delap esque long throws in succession but Layton made a couple of top saves and Sam Hill made a few brilliant blocks to keep it 2-1.

On the 60th minute we got the goal that seemed to put the game to bed, when Louis pumped a long ball into Haywards path, who took a great touch out his feet and finished well across the keeper continuing his great form In Front of goal 3-1.

We then made it 4-1 on the 70th minute when Louis was played in again by Hayward who had a fantastic afternoon, Louis took a great first touch and finished with some a plom into the far corner side netting, great finish 4-1.

Fishtoft pulled one back, when a scramble in the box fell to their striker who poked home.

We defended very resolutely for the rest of the game with Sam and Barret winning everything in the air and in the tackles. We should’ve had a 5th with a couple of counters but it wasn’t to be.
4-2 Full time, which made for a very happy devs management and playing team.

Fantastic again from the devs, weekend off next week before we face brigg devs at home on the 15th which promises to be a fantastic derby game under the lights, all support will be welcome, and neither first team have a game that evening, so hopefully all Brigg and Frod faithful will show their faces!

Motm -

Supporters - Skipper, Nath Mcguigan. Started the game at right back; but was moved into the midfield and was fantastic, won every second ball, headers, tackles and some fantastic switches of play to start counter attacks, captains performance, well done Bath.

Gaffers - Sam Hill : (Sponsored by RS Garden service Ltd ) he was like a brick wall at the back today, won just about every single header from their corners and long throws, made a couple of fantastic tackles to stop potential efforts at goal Layton and was commanding all afternoon, well done mate.

Devs are on their travels again, as we face another trip to Boston; this time to face fellow league newcomers Fishtoft Fc.

We are hoping to carry on our from our 2 home wins, and get our first away points of the season!

Devs 5-1 Grimsby United

A Dominant performance from the devs today as we take away all 3 points.

We started off the game well, and was on top from the off. This led to a few chances in the opening 20 mins for the devs when Hayward had an effort finely saved by Grimsby’s keeper low to his left, and we also missed a few chances from corners/set pieces.

Louis then finally opened the scoring on 29 mins when Hayward worked it excellently down the left and squared it to Louis who had a tap in. Louis then grabbed his second of the game in the 40th minute when some more good work from Hayward, who when pouncing on a second ball was taken down by their keeper in the box, Penalty. Louis stepped up and slammed it into the side netting, great penalty 2-0.

We then further extended our lead right on the brink of half time when a beautiful corner delivery from Ellis landed on Barrett’s head, who powered his head past the keeper, 3-0.

The devs started the second half as they meant to go on when Captain Mcguigan was played in on the 52nd minute again by Hayward in the box after some more good work down the left, Bath took a good touch and slammed it home from 10 yards, 4-0.

Grimsby did then pull one back 5 mins later, when a loose pass back to Layton was read, and intercepted, he rounded a stranded Layton and finished into an empty net 4-1.
They did then apply some pressure on our goal as they was rallied by their goal, but Layton made 2/3 good saves to keep it at 4-1.

Devs then got themselves back on top, hitting the bar themselves and missing a few good chances to put the game firmly to bed, but we kept going to the end and Hayward was finally rewarded with his goal when Ellis slotted Ben in down the left, he took a touch and finished really well. 5-1 FT.

The whole squad played its part today, a great performance all round, Up the Devs.

Supporters - Oliver proctor (available to sponsor) absolutely brilliant today was young Ollie, tenacious off the ball, quality on it. Took a few tackles today, but he took it all in his stride and it made him even better. Never stopped running either, well done Ollie.👏

Managers - Ben Hayward (Sponsored by Right Action) 2 assists, won a penalty and scored, we don’t need to say much else, Ben was unplayable today, fantastic down the left, a threat all game long. Well done Ben.

Another Home game for the Devs Tommorow!

The devs will look to carry on from where they left off last week, after their brilliant win over Nettleham reserves. This week we face a very tough task in the form of Grimsby United, who make the short trip over to Scunthorpe.

They won 8-1 last week in the league so this promises to be a very exciting game down at Brumby Hall!

All supporters are welcome, the Food cabin will be open, as will the fantastic Appleby Frodingham FC Sports Bar - Brumby Hall showing the 12.30 and 5.30 kick offs, alongside their brilliant new addition of 1664 Blanc on draught 😮‍💨

Devs 2 - 0 Nettleham

The devs get their first 3 points and clean sheet of the season with a fantastic display down at Brumby Hall!

The Devs started off the game looking to right the wrongs of last week, and in doing so played some fantastic football, which lead to us going 1-0 up after 10 mins, when some great work from Ben H down the wing, left him in some space in the box, where he found a lovely square ball to Louis who was on Hand to tap into an empty net 1-0.

The devs was playing some brilliant football and created several chances in the first half, but a mix of good keeping and rash finishing left the score at 1-0 at the break.

We start the 2nd half well, but again couldn’t put our chances away, and we was nearly punished with the score at 1-0 as nettleham had a good effort saved by Laytons feet down low.

We finally got the second, when our dominance prevailed and Corey played Ben in behind the left, who somehow managed to keep the ball in play and skin their rb, before again trying to square the ball into the corridor for Louis, but before it reached him a defender directed it into the net wrong footing the keeper, OG 2-0.

We defended resolutely for the rest of the game, with Layton again making a good save, and us missing a few chances to make the scoreline even better.

All in all a very successful afternoon at Brumby Hall! Up The Devs.

Wyberton Res 2-1 Devs

Defeat on the road yesterday for ten men devs! We start our campaign off with a frustrating afternoon out in Boston, we started brightly with a high press, hitting the post and their keeper making a few good saves but we just couldn’t get the ball in the net!

Frustration grew and after 30 mins a barrage of fouls on young Hayden wasn’t given: and he ended up with a sin bin for his complaints, whilst down to 10 we held on well but let Wybo grow into the game, and they took the lead with a dubious free kick from 30 yards out into the top bins just before HT, great strike 1-0.

We started the second half with a lot of the ball but not doing much with it and on the break Wybo caught us and despite our best efforts they slotted home 2-0.

We did respond well to going 2-0 down, with a good couple of chances and Louis pulled one back with a brilliant strike from 25 yards out that rifled past their keeps again into the bins 🗑️.

Our confidence was growing and we created a couple of chances and we even thought that we got an equaliser with 30 to go, until their player on the line suddenly put his flag up to give it offside 🤥🤥🤥

The ref then made it even harder for us sending Sam off for a last man hustle even though the striker got his shot off, In his words ‘if he scored I wouldn’t send you off but he didn’t so here’s your red’ 🫣 we was still trying for the equaliser even with 10 was still on top, but we never created a guilt edge chance and Wybo held on well.

2-1 is what it stayed, a good learning curve as to what to expect this season and what we need to improve on, all in all wasn’t good enough yesterday from us and wyberton battled well so deserved something from the game!
