⚽ BURTON ROVERS 2-1 CROSBY UNITED ⚽

Burton were back in action today against Crosby United, looking to put things right after our previous cup defeat to them and build on our unbeaten start to the league season.

To say it was windy would be an understatement! 🌬️ We faced the wind in the first half, soaking up pressure for 45 minutes and showing great determination to go into the break at 0-0.

Burton came out firing in the second half, looking to get on the front foot and spending the majority of the time in the Crosby half. Eventually, we found the breakthrough from a well-taken corner, with Jake Rov finding space and powering home a well-taken header to make it 1-0! ⚽

However, just like that, Burton switched off and failed to build on the lead, allowing Crosby back into the game to make it 1-1.

Changes were made, and it was Woolhouse who stepped up to slot home the winner and make it 2-1 to Burton! 💪⚽

That’s how it finished! Another three points in the bag and our unbeaten league start continues! 🔥

A tough game in difficult conditions, but the lads got the job done.

Sunday morning and the boys turned up raring to go for what they knew was going to be a tough game against Beckwood Rovers. But in true Sunday League fashion with both sides having a full squad of players available we were informed that through no fault of his own our referee couldn't make the game. Left with 2 options, try and find a ref or postpone the game. Both teams tried ringing round and despite a 30 minute delay to kick off we got the game on when a ref became available. Credit to both teams for pushing to get the game going.

The game kicked off and the first 15 minutes did not look positive. Burton giving the ball away, rushing their passes and treating the ball like a hot potato. And some slick passing by Beckwood and Burton found themselves 1-0 down.
In previous games this is when our heads would drop, but as with the previous week we chose to battle instead. All the lads choosing to not lay down they turned the half around. Some great persistence from Titch in the penalty area, he managed to squeeze the ball past the keeper to make it 1-1. Then as is becoming a regular occurrence, up steps Liam Greathead with a fantastic finish from outside the box. The lads went in at half time 2-1 up.

The second half started in pretty much the same way as the first with Burton all over the place but after a dodgy 10 minutes or so the game settled into a pretty even contest with both sides going close but no goals. Then like a dagger to the heart Beckwood managed to equalise late on to make it 2-2. The game looked to be heading for a draw with only minutes left, both sides tiring but still trying to push when Ryan decided to go on a little adventure down the right hand side. Dribbling past 2 players and leaving them wondering what the hell was going on he squared the ball for Liam to tap home his second goal of the game and ultimately secure the win for the boys. Much to the joy of the supporters, subs, and management on the sidelines. The game finished 3-2 to Burton.

A much needed win for the boys and massive improvements over the last two weeks. Time to enjoy a week off, a bit of a rest and go again on the 25th at home against Crosby.

BURTON ROVERS 3-3 HENRY’S

Our first league game of the season, following two disappointing cup results.

After our games against Henry’s last season, we knew this was never going to be an easy one. The lads showed plenty of character and battled right until the final whistle in what was an entertaining game.

⚽ Josh Simpson x2
⚽ Liam Greathead x1

🏆 MOTM: Josh Simpson 👏

A point to start the league campaign. Plenty to build on, and we go again! 💪

Another 1-0 away win for the lads this morning against a tidy outfit. Didn’t quite get the rub of the green on a number of occasions which could have seen us come away with a more comfortable scoreline. Good luck to Botty for the season 💪

Our last preseason game ends in defeat, against a team that were well drilled and knocked the ball around well. However, the game was decided by a soft penalty decision.

All the best to Burton Rovers FC for the upcoming season! 🔵🟡
