7 - Don’t become obsessed with getting to the “end” of a technique while ignoring the messy parts that come before it. If the setup fails under pressure, the finish probably was never there anyway.

6. In training, there’s a difference between pushing your comfort zone and tipping yourself into fear. If you spend the whole time overwhelmed, you probably aren’t learning much useful. Recognise when this is happening.

5. Fast drills are useful because they remove the chance to consciously think your way through things. They expose whatever your reflexes actually are. Cut through your illusions.

Hi all, just got back from an intensive two weeks Bujinkan Zeropoint training with Rob, Hiromi, Filip, and Uwe, interspersed with visits to the Hombu Dojo to train with sensei Nagato and Noguchi.

A lot was covered, but more importantly, a lot was felt. Pressure, timing, structure, movement, slack, spirals, distancing, reflex, intention… all explored from different angles, over and over again.

As always, language struggles to capture this stuff properly, and everyone experiences training from where they are currently at. These will simply be my own reflections and observations from the process.

Over the next few days and weeks I’ll share some smaller thoughts and lessons that stood out to me during the training. Not conclusions. Just things worth contemplating and experimenting with.

An absolute pleasure to be on this path, and I'm grateful for all the guidance I received from the Zeropoint regulars.
