Take part in the new Just For Girls Multi-sport sessions in Salisbury

A chance for girls to take part together in a variety of sports in a friendly supportive environment.

Recent studies tell us that girls are less active than boys at all ages, according to research with English girls being among some of the least active in the world. It is thought that only 16% of girls meet the UK physical activity guidelines of 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous intensity activity each day. We all know the benefit of a healthy lifestyle and how embedding these values in children will help provide a healthy sporting habit for life.

With this in mind, Salisbury City Council along with Magna Learning Partnership are providing a low-cost sporting opportunity for girls in school years 5 – 8 in the Salisbury area on Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 at Sarum Academy (term time only) starting in January. Just For Girls Multi-sport will deliver several games and activities alongside a variety of sports related activities such as hockey, football, cricket dodgeball etc. The club will be delivered by Ellie, from District Sports and children will have the opportunity to try a range of activities with additional coaches coming in to deliver specific sports where needed.

Participants will receive 5 free sessions initially and if they wish to continue can prebook to secure their places at a cost of £3 per session (paid upfront). To book your child’s free sessions please go to: https://form.jotform.com/BemertonHeath/SCCPRF

To run these sessions we need volunteers to help, if you would like to volunteer for some or all the sessions or for more information related to this project, please email [email protected]

HAVE YOUR SAY!
Salisbury is currently consulting residents about the future of the city and this includes the development of new or improving existing sports facilities and the deadline is this Friday 14th of October.
We all know the importance of sport and the more people that speak out and comment on policies, the higher it will be in terms of priority when it comes to decision making. Whilst delivering the Salisbury Sports Forum, facilities has been a raised as a major issue from multiple clubs and adding your voice will promote the need for increased provision.
