Happy midsummers day!
The field is finally coming to life it's been a long slow spring and my flowers have struggled but they are off now and we are going to have a bumper mid July onwards!

I've been out watering ahead of what's going to be a stupidly hot week, I'm probably going to do a bit of weeding under an umbrella this week so at least I'm doing something constructive!

Good luck to all you flowers farmers!

Did you know it's British flowers week this week!

Bit late to the party but it's been a busy week!

British flowers week was set up by new covent garden flower market in 2013 and now run by flowers from the farm it is a celebration of all this British flowers. Set up to champion British grown flowers and bring awareness to the industry and get people looking into where their flowers are grown.

As a grower I love British grown flowers, there is nothing quite like them. Their twisty stems, each quirky stem makes every arrangement feel alive. In my floristry I take inspiration from the British countryside creating whimsical style arrangements full of texture, movement and most important character, which British flowers have in abundance!

It's the year of the women's farmer this year which means we celebrate all the amazing women who work in farming. Flower farmers are a majority female industry all working our socks off. We are growing as an industry and it's so exciting to be a part of it.

There are so many inspirational accounts on here, people I've followed from the beginning of met along the way that have inspired me and championed me along the way. They are all beautiful women who are working so so hard!

It's been planting, planting and more planting this week, trying to make the most of this rainy weather to water in all my seedlings.

It was way to hot to plant anything last week so I've been playing catch up.

Getting the beds slowly filled there seems to be an awful lot of seedlings still left to plant and bed space is filling up! 😬

Very proud of my 5 petunias that I'm trialing this year for cut flowers. Last year I lost the seedlings, no idea where they went, they didn't get planted but I also couldn't find the label on any seed trays! 🤷

Everything just needs netting because it's howling gale and I obviously did not stake my autumn sown stuff! 😂

Pretty mistake! 😍
I sowed these cute little silene seeds in autumn and I must have misread the height information when ordering the seeds because they are 6" tall, beautiful little mounds of pink fluffy flowers! 😍

Going to have to dig out the seed pack to double check it's not a first year thing and they might bulk up next year, if not I will move to the garden where they can live out their life!

In the meantime any florists need 6" high silene? It's cute 🤣
