Wednesday. The start of something special.

One season ends. Another one begins.

The journey to a National Championship at all levels of the game begins. 12 months of hard work, commitment, teamwork, joy, friendship.

And touchdowns.

Lots and lots of touchdowns.

Well, what a journey it has been.

2026 flag season finally came to an end on Sunday, with both our U11s and U14s stepping onto the National stage and proudly representing our organisation.

Our U11s have shone all season and continued to show exactly what they are capable of when it mattered most. After two incredibly hard-fought games, they secured an amazing 3rd place National finish.

What a season it has been for this group. The progress, teamwork, and belief they have shown throughout the year has been fantastic to watch. They should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.

Our U14s finished 4th, securing the highest finish ever achieved in this age group in our organisation's history.

They battled right until the very end, leaving absolutely everything on the field. To see how much this group has developed and grown together is something special, and with Year 3 at U14s still to come, who knows what's next for them.

And to all the coaches, volunteers, parents, families and supporters who have been there throughout the season, thank you. None of this happens without you.

The 2026 journey may have come to an end, but there is no time to sit still.

Tomorrow, our 2027 journey begins.

Gameday is almost upon us as our fantastic U11s and U14s prepare to take centre stage at Nick Newbold Stadium.

We couldn’t be more proud of every single player for their hard work, commitment and dedication.

With both teams taking the field, they’re ready to show the UK what they’re all about.

We’re recruiting for our three adult teams, a women’s team, and three cadet teams. If you want to play flag football and test yourself against the best in Britain and overseas, and play with some of the best flag players in the country, then you’ve found the right place.

Our first 2026/27 recruiting session starts on the astroturf in Ordsall Park on Wednesday the 16th of September at 7pm for adults. DM for more details.

By that point, two of our three cadets teams will have taken part in the National Championships in Coventry. If you’re an U11, 14 or 17 and want to play, you can also DM us for more information.

The countdown has begun for our U11s and U14s, as next Sunday they head to Nick Newbold Stadium for the YFFL National Finals!

Two teams. One huge stage. A season of hard work, dedication and teamwork all leading to next Sunday.

We’re going places.

If you’d like to be part of one of the best flag football teams in Great Britain, challenging yourself against the very finest players, then we’re recruiting.

If you’re a current flag player and are looking for a new team, you’ve found it.

If track or basketball or Hyrox or ultimate frisbee are your things but you’re looking for another outlet, you’ve found it.

If you just want to test yourself athletically, then welcome.

Our recruitment month begins this Wednesday at 7pm at Ordsall Leisure Centre. It’s your first step on the flag journey that could take you all over the world, win you championships, and potentially get you selected for Great Britain.

Alongside our adult teams, we have one of the best cadet setups in Britain.

And we’re looking for new players.

Next month, we have two of our four youth teams playing for the National Championship having made it to the final four of their age group.

We also have a number of Great Britain players in our cadet system, who’ve grown quickly from flag novices into some of the best players in the country, overseen by hard-working, passionate and caring coaches.

We have teams at the following age groups:

U11 - Age 8 - 11
U14 - Age 11 -14
U17 - Age 14 - 17

If you have a son or a daughter who you think would benefit from organised sport, in a great environment to make friends, get fit, and play flag at a high level then just send us a DM.

And this isn’t just a sport for boys. Our cadet group is full of brilliant girls.

So get in touch or bring your kids down to a session and be part of one of the best flag football teams in the country.

As one season comes to an end, we begin to look ahead to 2027 and beyond.

Our Recruitment drive starts HERE

We are looking for new players to play at the highest level of the game in Britain, with and against some of the best athletes in the nation.

If you’re currently playing and would like a new challenge, especially at the Premiership level, then get in touch. But if you’re just starting out, or are intrigued by the game and think you have the skillset, then we can help too!

We have three adult teams, including one in the Premiership, and two in Division 1, alongside a women’s team and a thriving youth set up that has two teams in the 2026 National Championships in mid-September.

Another season ends for the Scorpions after an epic tussle with Sheffield Giants Flag at the Premiership Regional Finals in Carlisle, a triple overtime XP shootout after one of the games of the year at any level of flag in the UK, with both teams playing some sensational football.

No turnovers on either side, a catalogue of outstanding throws and catches, and defenders making huge plays all over the field.

A game that ebbed and flowed saw Sheffield taking a late 33-27 lead only for the Scorpions offense to score a dramatic 4th down TD bomb to tie it 33 all as hit James Molyneux in the back corner of the endzone as players from other games gathered to watch the unfolding drama. A critical Sheffield XP PBU by routesbyzach sent the game to a sudden death shootout, and after both teams scored on their first two tries, Jimmy Allen won it for the Steel in heartbreaking fashion.

There are so many takeaways from the season: the integration of a raft of new players, especially on defense; the continued development of the offense; and the incredible amount of work taken on by players and especially the coaches, over the last year.

It’s why losing hurts so much.

But the team showed incredible resilience to bounce straight back after the Sheffield defeat to beat 42-17 and West Lancashire Serpents 39-19. We also know our value in the north as a team is much higher than where we finished yesterday.

But that’s a conversation for another day.

Suffice to say there’s much to build on for next season, where we fully expect to be going two steps further and pushing for that National Championship.

Congratulations to Leicester Huntsmen and on making Finals Day from the north and Norwich Nomads and Coventry Phoenix Flag American Football from the south.

Make no mistake, we will be back. Better and stronger than ever before in 2027.
