Get ready to welcome the New Year in with some footwork practice! Bust some netball moves in the disco, practice as you cook up a meal or imagine your moves in your minds eye with your feet up (psychologically, being able to imagine yourself doing it is half the battle you know!)
So, when you catch the ball you must choose a ‘landing foot’ - this foot must not leave the floor until you have thrown the ball (which you have just 3 seconds to do).
Version one:
Practice jumping, landing two feet together then keep one foot on the floor and move the other foot in any direction - pivot your landing foot round so you don’t fall over. This is a perfect move for disco dancing or tidying in a small area.
Version two:
Practice walking or running and as you (pretend) to catch a ball stop on one foot, this is your landing foot you can then move the other foot round to change direction - pivot on your landing foot. This is possible during the week in a work environment whilst moving around an office and is less likely to terrify someone than the jumping version.
Version three (advanced 😉):
Run, jump and land on one foot (landing foot), step on to the free foot, lift off the landing foot but throw the ball before your landing foot touches the ground again. This may need more space and soft landing for first attempts.
Happy Pivoting into 2019!
