🏊‍♀️ Inclusive swimming for people with a learning disability is going brilliantly so far.

😊 The session is building people's confidence whether they are learning to swim or already doing lengths.

🛑 One swimmer mentioned that they used to swim all the time at school and college, but they hadn't done so for many years until this session started up.

🎫 In the future, the goal is for people with a learning disability to come and access public swimming sessions whenever they would like to.

🦡 It was fantastic to visit Badger Forest School today as they welcomed Doubletrees School to their site at Wheal Martyn.

🪜 There was so much to see and do, including the new climbing structure which looked amazing and was very well used.

🌳 Being outside and exploring nature go hand in hand with moving our bodies and being active in a different way to traditional sports.

🤝 There really was something for people of all abilities and activity levels.

📅 We would highly recommend the Badger 'Making Tracks' sessions to young people with a learning disability. These take place monthly at the weekend.

🏊‍♀️ On Friday last week, the first inclusive swimming session took place at St Austell Leisure Centre.

🙏 There were a mixture of swimmers: some were confident to swim lots of lengths in a lane while others were building their confidence in the water with the brilliant swim teacher, Sam.

😀 Wendi said she was 'glad to see them enjoying themselves smiling and laughing'.

🗣️ Wendi also asked swimmers how they found the session. One person fed back they were pleased with themselves for giving it a try and another said they had been looking forward to it because it was a good way to build their muscles.

❓ People were able to ask questions and take a look around the changing facilities and pool.

😊 We could see some of the participants really grow in confidence in a short space of time just by getting to see and hear about what would be happening next week.

🏊 Reminder: inclusive swimming sessions for people with a learning disability begin next week, Friday 11th September (must book place - no walk ins).

👋 This week, there is a meet and greet introduction session at St Austell Leisure Centre, Friday 4th September, 2:30-3:30.

ℹ️ This is a chance for people to find out more about the swimming sessions, meet the swim teacher, take a look at the facilities and ask any questions they might have.

😊 We look forward to seeing some of you then.
