Sakari Racing Amateur motorsport racing team with Matt Smith running car 30, a 2001 330Ci BMW in class 6 with the BMW Car Club Racing Championship

Sakari Racing is an amateur motorsport racing team first established in 2008. Matt Smith ran in the Track Attack Racing Club in the MR2 Series from 2009 to 2012 with Chris Shackle joining the team in 2010 in the same series. Both drivers put their racing careers on hold at the end of the 2012 season with the intention of returning to the circuit at some point. Matt Smith achieved several top ten f

inishes and one 2nd place in the MR2 Series with Cadwell Park and Mallory Park being particular favourite circuits. From 2013 Matt has continued to support the Track Attack Race Club and has been the MR2 series scrutineer from the end of 2014. He returned to the Track Attack Club for the 2016 and 2017 season in the Deutsche Marques Cup in a self developed 2.8 litre BMW Z3. He then joined the BMW Car Club Racing series for their first ever race meeting at Castle Combe in 2018. He took a year out to support the club to return to, what is now the BMW Car Club Championship for 2020 in class 6, finishing 17th overall. Chris Shackle was a regular top ten finisher in the MR2 series with several podium finishes. His plan is to return to racing in the TVR Challenge in 2016.

Car all prepared which is a good thing considering im off to Snetterton tomorrow! Few upgrades for next race: replaced spark plugs (believed to be the issue creating misfires), had injectors cleaned, added rear diffuser, replaced broken indicator, added plywood splitter to existing setup to straighten everything out and as one brake duct broke off ive replaced them with a new setup using magnetic connectors and ducting straight to disc

After 5 DNFs out of 6 races here's hoping for a change in fortune! Thanks to Simon Thorpe and Mike Popplewell its had a full diagnostic, PCV unit removed and fuel pump replaced. All tested and seemingly working, qualifying will confirm!

Also stopped by AJ Howe to replace the rear silencer for a larger one as it was a bit loud still, should be fine now. Also replaced tie rod ends so alignment at front finalised.

A few shots from Silverstone last weekend. Not as successful as I'd hoped, well off the pace but at least I managed to resolve the cutting out issue (ignition coils) that prevented me finishing the first race (and Brands).

This weekend swapped in some new ignition coils and put the 28 year old ones from the Z3 back in the spares pile. Put the old crankshaft sensor back in as OEM was throwing up codes (doesn't now). Fitted new EBC RPX pads on the front as old ones just about down to metal. Also managed to free up the seized suspension adjustment collars and lower it by 15mm all round, wasn't a easy job!

Just some electrics to rewire and ballast to add next weekend and then I can give it another go.
