Day 22 🐎

Less kicking, more rhythm 👏 Lighten your seat, keep your stirrup leather flat and taut, and make 20 tiny circles with your legs.

Notice how those small circles help your body move with the horse rather than against them — allowing them to stay more consistently in front of your leg without bigger kicks or a heavier seat.

Small movement. Bigger difference ✨

Day 21 🐎

If you’re an overthinker or a micromanager in the saddle, sometimes the best thing you can do is stop trying to control every stride.

Stick your headphones in, put some music on and just ride. Feel what’s happening underneath you, stay in the moment and react to the horse you’ve actually got, rather than trying to plan every second.

Sometimes you need to get out of your head and back into your body.

Day 20 🐎 Perfecting the overhead stretch.

As your hand goes up and over, follow it with your eyes. This helps lift and open your ribcage away from your tummy muscles, while keeping your core engaged. A small change that makes the stretch so much more effective.

Day 19: Thumbs up 👍

Pop a whip underneath your thumbs and across the top of your hands. It’s a simple little trick to keep your thumbs on top and your hands in the correct position while you ride.

Day 19: See how long you can stay in your half seat, whether it’s during your warm-up, cool-down, an exercise or an entire hack. It’s a great way to engage your core, find your centre of balance, secure your lower leg and discover just how much movement your body needs to stay with your horse.

Bobby – 4yo Connemara Gelding
Approx. 14.1hh | £8,000 inc VAT

Super smart 4yo Connemara gelding, broken in this summer and now ready for someone to continue his education and put their own stamp on.

Bobby is a fun, forward-thinking young pony who really enjoys his work. He has three lovely paces and is progressing well in the school, while still being understandably green at his age and stage of education.

He is an absolute dream to hack out. He has done plenty of hacking in company, has also hacked alone and is good in traffic. He has been XC schooling, where he happily had a go at everything asked of him. He hasn’t done a huge amount of jumping otherwise, so there is plenty still to develop.

Bobby is good to handle and good for the farrier. He has never been clipped.

He is a lovely quality young Connemara with plenty of ability and a great attitude. A genuine blank canvas who could be fabulous in any sphere and an exciting prospect for someone wanting a talented young pony to produce their own way.

Bobby will only be sold to a confident, competent home who can continue his education correctly and give him every opportunity to fulfil his potential.

£8,000 including VAT

DAY 18, Stop blaming your horse.

“He’s being naughty.”
“She’s being difficult.”
“He just won’t listen.”

Whether it’s ridden or on the ground, before you blame the horse, ask yourself why the behaviour is happening.

What are they reacting to?
What are you asking them to do?
Are you being clear and consistent?
What could you do differently to change the response?

Behaviour is communication. You need to be open minded enough to hear it.

Clear communication and consistent boundaries mean your horse knows where they stand. When they know where they stand, they feel secure.

A secure horse is a happier horse, and that’s where a better relationship begins.

Day 17 of a tip a day for 100 days.

Thunderstorms outside ⛈️ so today’s lesson looked a little different.

Sometimes slowing down teaches them just as much — patience, trust, confidence and how to simply stand and be with you.

Not every lesson needs to happen in the saddle.

Sometimes the quiet lessons are the ones that matter most. 🤍

Day 16 of a tip a day for 100 days, move the quarters towards the spook

Anticipating your horse spooking at something? Move their quarters towards it.

It makes you consciously keep your leg on, gives them and you something to think about and helps you ride past the problem without going to your hand, rather than getting into an argument.

Sometimes the answer isn’t ‘don’t look at it, it’s keep thinking about moving your body while you look.’

Day 15 of a tip a day for 100 days, a trot exercise for your position, balance and seat.
