This week, the Astrids welcomed Hillfield FC for another home fixture, which proved to be an exciting and competitive encounter. With several players missing from both sides, the match offered a great opportunity for players to step into new roles and continue developing their versatility on the pitch.
Astrids started brightly, showing real attacking intent through Zara, Alice, Edie, and Thea. Despite their early pressure and promising build-up play, they were unable to convert chances into goals. As the game progressed, Hillfield began to find their rhythm, gaining control largely through the influence of their strong left back.
In response, the coaches made some tactical adjustments, moving players into slightly different positions. Steph was pushed forward onto the right wing, adding valuable physicality in that area and allowing Alice to apply increased pressure on the opposition’s defence.
Defensively, Libby once again provided crucial stability, consistently being first to the ball and helping to organise the back line. Elsie and Scarlett remained solid, holding their positions well and creating opportunities to transition play out wide into attack.
In goal, Atlas delivered another assured performance. Ultimately, it was only two well-taken goals from Hillfield that separated the sides. Despite the result, it was another encouraging display from the Astrids, highlighting their continued improvement and determination as a team.
