ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Celia. I’m a certified coach,. I completed an International Coaching Federation accredited training programme with Barefoot Coaching in 2023, and I'm currently training with OCM for a Level 5 Coaching Professional qualification accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
WHAT COACHING IS
Coaching is a conversation, it’s a partnership between the coach and coachee, held in a safe, comfortable and confidential space that we create together. It’s where you’re able to explore new ways of thinking around problems and situations that perhaps you've held in the same rigid structure of thinking that the problem or situation emerged from. This new level of thinking leads to new ways of being, behaving and achieving.
Coaching is about discovering your own wisdom, answers, solutions, resources, and abilities. Knowledge and insights that come from you are a much better fit to your questions, goals, problems, and challenges than I, or anyone else, could tell you or give you.
Coaching provides you with the space, the time, and the support to create a self-awareness that means you can take responsibility, change your perspective of yourself and your experiences, and discover qualities and resources within you that you didn’t know were there.
Coaching is an opportunity to:
• be heard without judgment and without interruption
• discover your inner knowledge and resources
• discover options and possibilities you hadn’t noticed before
• discover how your patterns of thinking impact your experience
• leverage what’s working for your personal development
• overcome barriers to progress
MY PHILOSOPHY
There are three main areas that frame my coaching (as well as my understanding of life more generally):
1. Resources and new perspectives
I believe that everyone has access to a wealth of inner resources, with the ability to draw on them in order to feel confident, motivated, fulfilled, happy, calm, and so much more. Often, our beliefs about ourselves get in the way of accessing those resources--those qualities that, when we do access them, can make a big impact to our experience of life.
I believe that changing our perspective of ourselves can impact our whole life. And quite often, all it takes is a new way of looking at things, at looking at ourselves—our thoughts, beliefs, values and behaviours.
2. We’re all doing the best we can with the resources we currently have
I believe we’re all amazing, unique, people. Some of us have forgotten that. Some of us have told ourselves that we’re not that. And some of us just don’t feel worthy of being that. But we are; in our own unique way, we all are amazing.
3. Positive focus
‘You’ll never find a rainbow if you’re looking down’, Charlie Chaplin
From my own experience, I believe that a positive focus is key. I’m not saying never feel your negative emotions; I believe that it’s important to acknowledge how you feel and to allow yourself to experience negative feelings, but not to dwell in them. Feel them, acknowledge them, learn from them, then move on when the time is right, and look for what’s good in your life again.
PERSONALLY
On a more personal note, in my spare time, I enjoy learning new things, particularly in the area of psychology, personal development, and the mind. When I’m not doing that, I enjoy meeting friends for coffee (and, more often than not, cake), chats and walks; I’ve recently discovered Pickleball; and, since January 2022, I've been fostering cats and kittens for Woodgreen (as of today, I have fostered 19 adult cats and 28 kittens).
