Oldbury United 3-1 Starz Academy

Disappointing afternoon for us this Saturday. We really didn’t hit the performances that we have shown all season.

The lads didn’t start too bad, opposition saw more of the ball but Starz looked aggressive going forward. As the half went on, the opposition cut through us way too easily and took the lead. This gave them confidence and played more freely.

We didn’t seem up for it, the opposition scored from a corner we failed to clear and continued to see most of the ball.

Second half was an improvement, more fight and organisation from the lads despite conceding early on. We tried to break with pace but didn’t do enough to pull ourselves back in.

The frontline pressed the opposition into losing the ball multiple times but only found success scoring his 5th goal of the season 👌🏼

had a solid game from start to finish, keeping their wingers quiet for majority of the game and earned 💪🏽

Hartshill Sports Club 2-2 Starz Academy

Although a point on the road is good, it seems more like 2 points dropped thanks to a worldie of a performance from the opposition keeper.

The first half was very competitive, all four goals came during this half. The game was end to end from the off with Hartshill coming close to pushing themselves in front but Starz came back with picking the ball up in midfield and finding who slotted home. Opposition quickly equalised. made it 2-1 after assisted with a splitting pass through the defence. Opposition quickly equalised once more.

The second half was our half, the football was great. Starz were well organised, grabbed a foothold of the game and kept the opponents pinned in their own half for the majority. Unfortunately we couldn’t find the killer finish, the opposition held well and the keeper came out on top.

Another great performance from the boys but another disappointing result to come with it. The football was so enjoyable to watch. We don’t give up, we eye up 3 points next weekend as the lads are hungrier than ever. Up the Starz 🤩

Starz Academy 1-2 AFC Rushden & Diamonds

Missed chances come back to bite us. The first half started fairly even, both teams were up for it and hungry for 3 points. Starz took control of the game and created a few chances but the opposition pounced on a mistake at the back to go in front. We came back at Rushden again with more pressure and even hitting the crossbar on one occasion.

Unfortunately, Starz couldn’t clear their lines from the next attack and we somehow saw ourselves 2-0 down. Although frustrating to be in this position, the lads came out from half time with the motivation to make a comeback.

Just a couple minutes into the second half, a quick throw from saw play through on goal and he slots it home on his first game back from injury.

The rest of the second half saw Starz Academy bombard the opposition. Fully dictating the game and pushing for an equaliser but falling short at the final whistle.

MOTM was difficult to choose this week, so many top performances out there and especially in midfield but edges it with his complete domination in the centre of the park.

Good luck to Diamonds for the rest of the season, great bunch of lads and head coach. Away trip for us next week, UP THE STARZ 🤩

CO Coaching Academy 1-6 Starz Academy

WE ARE BACK! After a difficult start to the season and struggling to score, the lads have worked tirelessly in matches and training and finally got what they deserved!

After Storm Amy denying from opening the scoreline with a beautiful chip over the keeper, the opposition went the other end and put us behind. It looked like Groundhog Day, but the lads didn’t let it affect their mentality, they pushed and pushed until got taken down in the box and converted his penalty. 1-1 HT.

Second half the lads dominated completely. contributed again delivering a perfect cross for to head home. The flood gates opened; slotted one in from a tight angle, scored a peach from long range, curled in a free kick from close to the corner flag and finished off the day by rounding the keeper.

Unbelievable team effort, toughest game to pick a MOTM, but a goal and assist that inspired the rest of the team points the award to !

Starz Academy 1-4 Crewe Football Club

Another defeat for the lads but a scoreline that doesn’t reflect the performance. Starz bounced back from last week’s defeat with a much better performance, controlling the majority of the game but unfortunately not creating enough in the final third.

Despite a strong start and continuously trying to create an opening, the opposition took their chances and we were punished again.

2-0 down at half time and the boys came out on a mission, they won their 50/50s and dominated the midfield but Crewe capitalised on a mistake and then found a fourth late into the second half.

Again the boys pushed and earned a penalty right at the death that was converted by , who comes back from injury and makes it 2 goals in 2 appearances.

Walsall Phoenix 7-0 Starz Academy

Very tough game yesterday against a real good side. The lads started strong, very well organised and looked like the team that was more likely to take the lead. After conceding a scruffy goal, the lads hit back and pushed again, until Phoenix cut us open and doubled their lead.

There was still some fight in us but it slowly faded away after each goal went in. We found ourselves 4-0 down at half time and ended up showing the opposition way too much respect in the second half.

Some really good performances from a handful of players that deserved more from the game, but as a team we needed to do a lot better.

Starz Academy 1-7 Proline Coaching Academy

A very ugly day from the off yesterday. Conceding a very soft penalty in the first 3 minutes set the tone. Poor refereeing and poor mistakes at the back continued to be a theme then on.

After going 3-0 down quite early on, we were somehow awarded a penalty to give us a lifeline which was saved but followed it in nicely and scored the rebound to pull one back.

We found our rhythm, put on some pressure for a good chunk before falling asleep at the back and conceding a 4th and then a 5th before half time.

The second half was stoppage after stoppage, neither side could get a good run with the ball and the ref completely lost control. The opposition scored two decent goals to finish us off but nothing else to report.

Another MOTM for to make it 2/2. The lads understood their own mistakes and we look to put things right with a very tough opponent next week; Walsall Phoenix.

Our new signings came out in full force Saturday, with all four of them getting their debut and even scoring his first goal for the club! Hopefully many goals, assists and clean sheets to come from all of them 🤩

Tamworth Academy 4-1 Starz Academy Youth

Our first MJPL fixture resulted in a defeat to a very good Academy side. They were very organised and played a possession based game but the lads stuck to the game plan and held their own.

We caused a few issues early on and kept the opponents at bay, going into half time at 0-0. Tamworth came out strong in the second half and a couple of own mistakes saw us 3-0 down within 10 minutes.

The lads fought to get back into the game, debutant scored and we took momentum as we pushed for another. But it was too late, the home side scored another from outside the box to secure the 3 points.

MOTM went to . Great first experience for the squad and we take it to next week’s home fixture.
