Yesterday, we had a brilliant afternoon taking part in a round robin tournament ahead of the 9-a-side league kicking off in a few weeks! ⚽🙌

It was great to get a feel for the pitches, test out the nets, and remind ourselves that yes… the offside rule is a thing 🫠😂

A huge thank you to all the teams and organisers for a well-run day, and especially for holding a minute’s silence in memory of the lovely Paul, Ifrah’s husband, who recently passed away after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer. We wore blue ribbons in his memory and were proud to take a moment together to remember him. 💙

A special shout-out also goes to Marie for her first experience managing the team today and somehow keeping track of the endless subs without losing her mind! 👏😂 We think she’s earned herself a place on the touchline.

Lots of positives to take from today, and we’re already looking forward to the 9-a-side league getting underway at Thorncliffe in a few weeks. Bring it on! 💪⚽💙

Today we are heartbroken to share the sad news that Paul, beloved husband of our amazing teammate Ifrah, passed away in the early hours of this morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Paul was a true warrior whose strength, determination, and positivity inspired everyone around him. He leaves behind so many wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. Whether it was standing on the sidelines with his trademark beaming smile or helping us out by timing the subs, Paul was always there supporting us. He was, without question, one of our biggest and most loyal supporters.

Paul, you will be deeply missed by us all, but please know that we will be there for Ifrah and will support and care for her through these incredibly difficult times.

To honour Paul’s memory, we will be taking part in Parkrun at Clifton Park next Saturday, wearing blue in his memory. We would be grateful for any support as we come together to celebrate his life and show our love for Ifrah.

Rest in peace, Paul. You fought with incredible courage and will never be forgotten. 💙

☀️🥵 SCORCHIO doesn’t even cover it… 26 degrees, baking pitches, melted boots and enough sweat to refill a paddling pool 😅 but what a day for the Memo Warriors at the Sarah Thompson Cup Tournament supporting the amazing Rotherham Hospice 💙

An incredible tournament for an incredible cause — and one that’s very close to our hearts. The work Rotherham Hospice do is simply amazing 👏

First game finished 0-0… the Warriors were clearly just defrosting the legs, adjusting to the heat and trying not to spontaneously combust in the sunshine ☀️😂

Then the engines started firing 🚂💨

The next games saw some cracking goals flying in from Otter and Bulldozer Becky 💥⚽ Everyone was getting involved, everyone was playing, and it was brilliant to have Rosie the Mad Hatter and Super Sadie back out there causing chaos too 🙌 And a massive moment for Rosie the Mad Hatter later on in the tourney who not only made a brilliant comeback today but also doing what she does best and got a goal for the Warriors 🥳 Great play from Otter finding Rosie lurking at the back post and it was an easy finish to slot home ⚽👏

Liv, Sammy, Mel and Suz were rock solid at the back all day, while Emily and Babbi pulled off some brilliant saves in net to keep the Warriors in the fight 👏

Games two and three saw the Warriors cruising to 2-0 wins looking sharp, strong and seriously fit 💪 Kirsty was everywhere in midfield, Rosie was battling for every ball and Kim the magician was pulling strings with some silky footwork ✨ (which is even more ridiculous considering THREE of our players had literally completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks the day before 🤯👏 True Warriors. Pure grit and determination.)

Next up was Rossington… who eventually arrived 😅 The Warriors spent what felt like 4 working days standing around roasting in the heat waiting for kick-off 🥵

The game started brightly but Rossington took their chance well and nicked it 1-0 with a great finish.

Then came Miskicks. Warriors started strong again and came SO close to scoring during absolute chaos in the box before they won a penalty 👏 Unfortunately the sun had fully scrambled Otter’s operating system by this point and the pen didn’t quite go to plan 😂 Miskicks played well and ran out 2-0 winners.

BUT… the Warriors were through to the Plate competition 💪

First up Yorkshire Wanderers — and the Warriors absolutely dominated. Brilliant passing, movement and energy all over the pitch saw them through 2-0 and into the final 🔥 Sadie and Sammy were throwing themselves into tackles, Becky was bulldozing up top and Kim kept producing moments of magic all over the pitch.

The final was another top performance. Great football, loads of fight and Otter bagseying yet another goal because apparently there was no stopping her today ⚽😂 babbi and Emily both stepped up massively in goal throughout the day, while Liv, Mel, Sammy, Sadie and Suz kept battling right to the very end 👏

Then… DRAMA 😩

With seconds left it was absolute carnage in the Warriors box. Bodies everywhere, chaos, panic, probably someone losing a shin pad… and Rossington Blues bundled one home to equalise.

Straight to penalties 😭

Sadly it wasn’t to be for the Warriors, but WOW what a performance to make the final in that heat ☀️👏

Sharp. Strong. Full of laughs. Full of fight.

Safe to say… we gave it everything this season 😅
Last night’s final game ended 2–2 — mainly because we didn’t want football to end just yet 😉
Then onto the very serious fantasy league results 🤩 (arguably the most competitive part of the season 👀)
What a night celebrating — not sure what hurts more today, the tackles or the chaos 😂
Huge shoutout to Rosie, Sadie and Tom for all the time and effort putting everything together — absolute legends 👏
Roll on 2026 season… after we’ve all recovered!

Chooooo choooo 🚂 we can’t wait to play in the 9’s summer league now! Our mighty warriors pinks and black team will combine for this league 💪🏼 maybe the odd flake 🍦for good measure, we can’t help but love a Mr Ronksley🍦 ⚽️🤩
