One of my favourite upper back row variations on the extreme row, one of the most versatile machines ever made. We could literally do all of our pull workout on this piece with options for so many variations.
I was using this initially with a pronated grip to bias the upper back but as loading got heavier it started to bother my forearms. This week taking the neutral grip allowed me to take a slight different position to stop the work in my forearms but the bias still remains. One of main key points with this movement is the elbow drive, here I am taking my elbows past my rib cage and aiming for full retraction, so in essence the focus is still on the upper back, with very little lat involved. All I think about here is allowing my shoulders blades to work to their full capacity, fully open and fully close whilst maintaining fixed torso position. This will only get better as we rinse it, i very rarely like to change movements / machines in the set up unless absolutely necessary, movements like this I am happy to run for 6 months as they are just so effective and have such big run way for progression.
Training is a skill, focus on rinsing as much as you possibly can out of each movement as you will get better and get the most out of it in time. I like to literally run movements into the ground often re-setting loading or simply adjusting slightly like we do here to suit and continue.
Truly blessed to be able to do what I love in my place of worship
