My routine as a new mum 🤍

Right now, I aim for 2 runs + 2 strength sessions each week 🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️

My boyfriend does the same, which means between us we’re juggling 8 training sessions around work, childcare and family life. It takes some planning, plenty of swapping things around and occasionally calling in the grandparents! 😂

I also have my Tuesday walks with Wild Mums Crew 🌿 — a chance to get outside, move and have a chat with other mums.

My goals? Keep building my strength, improve my running, stay consistent and possibly… run a marathon 👀🏃‍♀️

Training isn’t always perfect, but that’s not the goal. It’s about finding a routine that works for me and my family. 🤍

“I’ll get a bit fitter first, then I’ll get a PT…”

You don’t need to. 🙌

Personal training isn’t something you have to get fit enough for first.

Whether you’re completely new to the gym, coming back after a break or simply not sure where to start, your training should meet you at your current level — not where you think you should be.

We start where you are and build from there. 💪

If this has been the thing stopping you from starting PT, drop me a message and we can chat about getting started.

Matwork vs Reformer Pilates — what’s actually the difference? 🤔

They’re both Pilates, but they can look and feel pretty different!

🧘 Matwork Pilates is performed primarily on a mat, using your body weight and gravity for resistance — sometimes with smaller pieces of equipment added in.

🤸 Reformer Pilates uses a specialist machine with a moving carriage, springs, straps and a footbar. The springs can provide both resistance AND assistance depending on the exercise.

But is Reformer automatically harder than Matwork?

Nope!

Both can be adapted, progressed and made more challenging depending on the exercise and the person doing it.

And you don’t necessarily need to choose between them.

The best option will depend on your goals, experience, preferences and what you actually enjoy doing.

Never tried Pilates before? That’s absolutely fine too — you don’t need to be flexible or already know what you’re doing before you start.

A little behind the scenes of what goes into planning a Reformer Pilates class ✨

There’s more to it than picking a few exercises and putting them together!

I think about the flow of the session, exercise selection, spring settings, transitions and how movements can be adapted or progressed depending on who I’m teaching.

Then, of course, I have to test it out myself. 👀

All so that when it’s time for your session, everything flows from one movement to the next as best it can.

What is Pilates actually good for? 🤔

Pilates sometimes gets reduced to “a bit of stretching” — but there’s a lot more to it than that.

Depending on how it’s programmed, Pilates can help you work on:

💪 Strength
🔥 Core strength & control
🧘 Mobility
⚖️ Balance & coordination
🧠 Body awareness & movement control

And you don’t have to choose between Pilates and other forms of exercise.

It can sit alongside strength training, running, sport or whatever else you enjoy doing.

We have a number Pilates classes throughout the week, alongside 1-to-1 and 2-to-1 sessions, so you can choose the format that works best for you.

You also don’t need to be flexible, have a strong core or know what you’re doing before you start — exercises can be adapted and progressed to suit your current ability.

Like any form of exercise, what you get from Pilates ultimately depends on what you do, how it’s programmed and what you’re trying to achieve.

What does 1-to-1 personal training actually include? 👀

Spoiler: it’s more than having someone stand next to you and count reps 😂

When you train 1-to-1 with me, your sessions are built around you — your goals, ability, experience and individual needs.

That can include:

🏋️ Exercise technique
📈 Progressive strength training
🏃 Fitness & goal-specific training
🧘 Mobility and movement
📊 Progress monitoring — including weight, measurements and testing if wanted
🥗 Nutritional guidance, if required
📱 Access to the Easy St. app to track your workouts and nutrition

The app also means I can see what you’re getting up to outside of our sessions, helping us look at your training as a whole rather than just the time you spend with me in the gym.

And importantly, I want you to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing.

My aim isn’t to make you dependent on having a PT forever. I want you to become more confident, capable and knowledgeable about your own training.

Come and train full body with me 💪

A little look at one of my full-body strength sessions 🏋️‍♀️

I currently strength train twice a week alongside my running, so full-body sessions are my go-to for making sure I’m hitting everything without spending every day in the gym.

Nothing fancy — just structured, progressive strength training that supports my running, keeps me strong and works around everything else I’ve got going on.

I’m actually on a deload week right now, so this is a throwback to one of my recent sessions — because recovery is part of the programme too!

Also featuring my first ever voiceover… turns out talking to my phone is significantly harder than talking to clients 😂 Please excuse how awful it is — we can only improve from here!

Run. Lift. Recover. Repeat. 🏃‍♀️💪

Runners… are you strength training? 🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️

Running obviously gets you better at running.

But that doesn’t mean your training has to ONLY involve running.

A well-designed strength programme can help develop the muscles involved in running, improve your ability to produce force and complement the work you’re already doing out on the roads or trails.

And your gym sessions don’t need to absolutely destroy your legs either 😂

It’s about choosing the right exercises, managing your training volume and fitting your strength work sensibly around your running.

You don’t need endless exercises or five gym sessions a week.

For many recreational runners, 2 well-structured full-body strength sessions each week can be a really practical place to start.

Your running is still your running.

Strength training is there to support it.

Run AND lift 💪🏃‍♀️

If you’re a runner who feels completely lost when you walk into the weights area, personal training can help you put some structure behind your gym sessions.

What actually happens at your PT consultation? 👀

If you’re thinking about starting personal training with me, this is where we begin.

Your 30-minute consultation gives us a chance to sit down and talk through:

🎯 What you’d like to achieve
🏋️ Your previous training experience
🩹 Any injuries, health conditions or limitations we need to consider
📅 Your current lifestyle and what realistically fits around it
💪 How personal training could help
📋 The different training options available to you

Depending on your goals, we can also take some starting weight and measurements — but this is completely optional.

Most importantly, the consultation gives us the chance to get to know each other.

You can ask questions, find out more about how I work and decide whether I’m the right PT for you.

And there’s absolutely no expectation that you need to arrive fit, strong or already knowing your way around a gym.

That’s what I’m here to help with.

Consultations are 30 minutes and cost £25.
