βοΈπ‘οΈ With Met Office amber warnings for extreme heat in place over the coming days, it's vital that you and your family know how to stay safe in, on and around water. π¦
Warm weather can make open water look inviting, but cold water shock and hidden dangers can quickly turn a fun day out into an emergency.
If you fall into water or become tired, remember to **stay calm and float**. π§
π **Float to Live:**
β’ Tilt your head back and keep your ears in the water
β’ Relax and focus on controlling your breathing
β’ Spread your arms and legs to help you stay afloat
β’ Gently move your hands if needed
β’ Once calm, call for help or swim to safety if you can
If you see someone else in trouble:
β οΈ Do not enter the water
π Throw them something that floats
π Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you're at the coast
Take a few minutes to learn and share the Water Safety Code β it could save a life.
