After a life-changing cycling accident in the Peak District, James Goldsby (commonly known as Jim) had to adjust to life following a traumatic amputation. An active lifestyle was a huge part of who he was, and his focus quickly became finding a way back to movement and independence.
With specialist rehabilitation and prosthetic support, and guidance from his Case Manager, he gradually rebuilt his confidence and mobility. From early physiotherapy milestones through to walking longer distances with a prosthesis, progress came step by step, supported by a joined-up clinical team.
Today, Jim is back doing the things he loves, including walking, skiing, open-water swimming, and working in a way that fits around his new routine. Reflecting on his journey, Jim says “There is a life after this, you just have to try to remain as positive as possible. It’s all about having a positive mindset and stepping out of your comfort zone.”
