Acad finish the season on a high!

A beautiful sunny evening down at earls seen academy host hawes in the last ever cheese league fixture. Acad weren’t messing around early and we’re on the front foot creating plenty of chances.

Jake Banks looking ever so threatening took a well deserved goal around the keeper in the 20th minute. It was one way traffic and after some beautiful buildup play Rudi squared to Dog who smashed home to make it 2-0.

Plenty of changes at halftime giving everyone a good run out. The second half was a much poorer half from academy. Jamie Diamond the shining light driving us up the pitch, where dog found himself free in the box to slot home his second of the day.

Kenny got involved and gave a dubious penalty but a deserved goal for 10 men Hawes and in the last few minutes Rudi Sarts tapping into an open net to end the game 4-1 Acad.

A hugely improved season from the lads which sees us have our first ever positive goal difference and highest finish/points tally.

We look forwards to celebrating our season at presentation and end of season do! Huge well done to all the lads who’ve played this season and got us to where we are this year!

Dales Cup Semi Final!
A huge game for the lads with Acad having their first chance to get into a final. League Champions Unicorn were the opponents.

A slow start from academy in the game with uni having a lot of the ball for the majority of the first half. Our only real chance coming from Dog who just put his shot from close range over the bar. Just before half time a 40 minute delay due to ref injury came where the lads re grouped. We came out much better in the second half with the ball while still staying strong under constant uni pressure. On the 80th minute a wicked Dan Diamo corner found its way in off a Uni head. 1-0 acad with 10 mins to play.

Not long after Uni showed there quality with a great strike into the bottom corner in the last few minutes. Onto extra time where Uni looked the much better team. Academy with some resolute defending from every player. Before half time ET a Uni corner was scrambled in by Nige Cole to make it 1-2. Again tho accademy reacted, with 5 minutes to play Dog hit one from 30 yards which trickled its way over the line!

Penalties again for Acad. This time unfortunately we found ourselves on the wrong end of the result with Dunny,Bomb,Dan putting there pens away but Dog being denied by a great Mutchy save.

Fair play to Uni who were fully deserving of their win after having only 11 players for 90 mins. Good luck in the final fellas👏

Huge graft from the lads to go toe to toe with the league Champions for 120 minutes and just falling short in the end.

For us it’s back to the league for our final game of the season vs Hawes. 6:30KO Orchard on Wednesday night. We look to take 3 more points in what’s been our most successful season since we started 3 seasons ago!

MOM from the lads and the opposition was Big G. 🪏
