Today our ladies hosted Marske United Ladies in the County Cup.
This was Towns first game of the 2025/26 season. We entered the pitch with a desire to press hard.
The game was very balanced for the first 30mins, lots of good football across the pitch. Town managed to make some great breaks which saw Char chase down so many balls but Marskes back line & keeper were on hand to scoop them up.
Town didn’t let up on their pressure. Unfortunately on the 30th minute we conceded an OG. A cross came through from Marske right winger, Towns keeper tipping it away from the direction of Marske’s striker but unfortunately the momentum of towns defender that was chasing the striker back, caused the ball the find the back of the net.

Towns keeper was kept busy for a good few mins after a string of long shots from Marske came firing over but it was on the 33rd minute, a ball through our defence found a Marske striker and beat the towns keeper.
0-2 at half time.
The second half was much the same for Town, a strong start and some fresh legs saw Marske keeper tested more than the first half. It was around the 70th minute Town gained a free kick, Jess Johnson stepping up to take it from just outside the centre circle. Firing home in spectacular fashion!

Town pushed hard to try for that equaliser, some excellent passages of play, lots of positives to take from our first game of the season, but today just wasn’t our day. 77th minute saw Marske score from a corner ball in to the box.
FT 1-3.
Plenty to take away from the game today, plenty to work on, new players to integrate and our new style of play to keep working hard on. We had some excellent communication, especially with our defence and keeper, which helped the game develop. The passages of play through the 3rds had some stages of brilliant football played.
A huge well done to our two young new signings who played their first official game today. Neither looking out of place in an adult field.
Congratulations to Marske, good luck in progression through the cup and with your league games, it’s always a pleasure to see you ladies! We wish your player well who took the nasty knee injury!
