My ADHD struggles.

If you know me, you’ll know I’m a completely open book.

I’m not ashamed of my struggles. I embrace them.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 13. Back then, I didn’t think much of it. I was just a kid.

But as I’ve got older, life has got louder.

Children. Work. Bills. Relationships. Business. Responsibilities.

Now, my ADHD can absolutely fry me.

My brain feels like 50 tabs are open.

I isolate myself, overthink, struggle to switch off and lose sleep. I can feel overwhelmed by things that seem simple to others.

But other months

My ADHD turns me superhuman.

I become obsessed with goals. I can work for hours without noticing the time. Ideas come faster than I can write them down. I have energy, creativity and drive I wouldn’t trade.

That’s when I started seeing ADHD differently.

The same brain that can feel like my biggest weakness can also be one of my biggest strengths.

I think we’re all a little bit like that.

We all have parts of ourselves we don’t like, and parts we love.

The danger is focusing so heavily on what we don’t like that we start believing it is who we are.

It’s not.

A trait can be part of you without becoming your identity.

Accepting something doesn’t mean you have to settle for it.

I can accept that my ADHD makes certain things harder while still working on them. I can embrace what makes me different while improving what holds me.

That’s balance.

I don’t want my ADHD to define me. It’s a part of me.

Sometimes it makes life harder. Sometimes it makes life incredible.

But it isn’t who I am.

Neither are the things you struggle with.

I hope you realise you were never something that needed fixing.

You were a person who needed understanding.

There will always be parts of you that need work and parts that deserve love. Maybe becoming your best self is learning to do both.

“These are the parts I’m proud of.

These are the parts I need to work on.

And none of them make me any less worthy of being proud of the person I’m becoming.”

Your struggles are chapters, not your story.

They don’t get to write the ending.

08/09/2026

A problem shared is a problem halved.

We all carry weight.

Sometimes you can see it.
Sometimes you can’t.

When something is playing on your mind, I imagine a kettlebell sitting inside your head.

Maybe it’s work.
An argument.
Money.
A relationship.
Family.
Stress.
Anxiety.

Or sometimes, you don’t even know exactly what it is. You just know you don’t feel yourself.

And you carry that kettlebell around all day.

You wake up with it.
You go to work with it.
You try to concentrate with it.
You eat dinner with it.
You go to bed with it.

Carrying that weight all day is exhausting, frustrating and draining.

This is why my goal as a Personal Trainer isn’t just to get you into amazing shape.

One of my biggest strengths is understanding that you’re a person before you’re a client.

When you walk through the gym door, I want you to feel like you can talk.

Some sessions we’ll train hard, have a laugh and take the p**s out of each other. You might even laugh at my jokes
whether you’re laughing with me or at me is another story. 😂

But other days, you might walk through that door after having an absolute nightmare.

Maybe you don’t need someone to tell you to “just get on with it.”

Maybe you need to talk.
You need to rant.
You need someone to listen.
You need to feel heard.

And that’s okay.

For that 60 minutes, I want you to have somewhere you can put everything else down.

We’ll still train. We’ll still work towards your goals. But we’ll talk too.

Because I don’t just want you to lift weights.

I want you to leave having dropped some of the mental ones too.

That kettlebell you’ve been carrying around in your head all day?

Put it down.

You don’t always have to carry everything on your own.

You’re not just a paying client to me. I care about every single person I work with.

I want to know you, encourage you, celebrate your wins and support you through the difficult days.

Because sometimes the most important part of a session isn’t the weight you lifted.

It’s the weight you finally let go of.

It’s not just Personal Training.

It’s a safe space for you.

I think sometimes we forget what we actually are.

We’ve created a world where we can have almost anything we want.

Technology at our fingertips. Food delivered to our door. Fancy clothes, expensive cars, endless entertainment and comfort whenever we want it.

Yet despite having more than ever, so many people feel disconnected, anxious and unfulfilled.

Maybe it’s because we’ve become so focused on investing in everything around us, that we’ve forgotten to invest in ourselves.

We’re human beings.

We’re designed to move. To explore. To spend time in nature. To connect with other people. To challenge ourselves. To work towards something meaningful.

Think about a dog.

You could give a dog the fanciest kennel, the best food, a designer lead and harness and a warm bed.

But say “walkies” and watch what happens.

Because what it really wants isn’t more stuff.

It wants to do what it was designed to do.

Move. Explore. Experience the world.

Keep that same dog inside for weeks, surrounded by everything it could possibly need, and eventually it would become restless and unhappy.

And I think we’re not that different.

We can spend our money on better phones, nicer clothes, bigger TVs and more comfort, while neglecting the things that actually make us feel good.

We stop moving.

We stop getting outside.

We stop challenging ourselves.

We isolate ourselves.

We neglect our nutrition.

Then wonder why we don’t feel like ourselves anymore.

Maybe investing in yourself isn’t always about buying more.

Maybe it’s about investing your time, energy and money into the things that make you feel alive.

Your health. Your body. Your relationships. Your experiences. Your growth.

We often think about the cost of getting back into shape.

The gym membership. The personal training. The healthier food. The time.

But maybe we should also ask ourselves:

What is the cost of not doing it?

What is the cost of another year feeling unhappy in your body?

Another year putting your health second?

Another year watching life pass while you choose comfort over yourself?

Because investing in yourself has a cost

But so does neglecting yourself.

Stuck in a jar?

I think we’ve all been there at some point.

One bad habit becomes two.
Two becomes a routine.
And eventually, that routine becomes your normal.

The problem is, the longer you stay there, the harder it feels to get out.

And when you finally do get yourself out, only to fall back into the same habits again, something else starts to happen.

You lose trust in yourself.

You tell yourself you’re going to train consistently.

You do it for a few weeks.

Then you stop.

You tell yourself you’re going to eat better.

You manage it for a while.

Then you slip back into old habits.

Eventually, you start thinking:

“What’s the point? I always end up back here anyway.”

So you stop trying because you don’t trust that you will see through to your goals.

Think about a squirrel sitting on top of a jar full of nuts.

It starts eating.

One nut.

Then another.

Then another.

But as it keeps eating, it slowly moves further and further down into the jar.

The nuts taste good, so it keeps going.

It doesn’t realise that every nut is taking it further away from the freedom it started with.

And eventually, it looks up and realises:

“How the hell do I get out of here?”

Not realising the comfort of consuming these nuts was slowly trapping it.

And this is what falling into a rut can look like.

Every bad meal.

Every skipped workout.

Every bad decision.

Every time you choose comfort over discomfort.

That’s another nut.

One decision might not seem like much.

But keep making those decisions day after day, and eventually you find yourself sitting at the bottom of the jar, wondering how you got there.

And the further down you go, the harder climbing back out feels.

This is where I believe personal training needs to be about more than just training.

Because if you come to me wanting to change your body, I can give you a workout plan.

But what’s your mental plan?

What happens when motivation disappears?

What happens when you have a bad week?

What happens when you miss a session?

What happens when you eat badly?

What happens when life gets difficult?

Because changing your body isn’t simply about “wanting it badly enough” or “locking in.”

You’re going to have difficult days.

The goal isn’t to never fall off track.

The goal is to learn how to get yourself back on it without beating yourself up and giving up completely.

Your mind will often give up before your body does.

So why do we spend so much time planning our physical transformation while completely ignoring the mental training required to achieve it?

That’s something I help my clients with.

I don’t just want to help you train harder.

I want to help you understand yourself better, build confidence, develop discipline and, most importantly, rebuild trust in yourself.

Because sometimes you don’t need another workout plan.

You need someone to help you climb out of the jar.

The strongest people aren’t always the ones lifting the heaviest.

Sometimes strength looks completely different.

It looks like getting out of bed when your mind is telling you to stay there.

It looks like showing up when you don’t feel motivated.

It looks like starting again after you’ve failed.

It looks like admitting that you’re struggling instead of pretending everything is okay.

It looks like asking for help.

We put so much emphasis on physical strength.

How much can you lift?
How fast can you run?
How much weight have you lost?
How much muscle have you built?

But what about the battles nobody can see?

The anxiety you don’t talk about.

The pressure you’re carrying.

The relationship that’s falling apart.

The stress from work.

The thoughts that keep you awake at night.

The lack of confidence you’ve been hiding behind a smile.

Nobody sees those weights.

But you’re carrying them every single day.

That’s why I don’t believe personal training is just about training someone’s body.

Sometimes a session gives someone an hour where they can switch off.

Sometimes it’s the one place they feel like they’re making progress.

Sometimes it’s having someone beside them who believes in them when they don’t believe in themselves.

And sometimes, simply turning up is a victory.

So don’t judge your strength purely by what you can lift.

Because some of the strongest people you’ll ever meet are fighting battles you’ll never know about.

And if you’re struggling, you don’t have to carry it alone.

Asking for help isn’t weakness.

It’s strength.

Thank You PureGym, Rhyl.

7 weeks ago, I walked through the doors of PureGym Rhyl after taking a year away from something I am extremely passionate about.

Something that has always been much more than just a job to me.

Changing lives. Inspiring others. Helping people become the best versions of themselves, physically and mentally.

For the previous 12 months, I had stepped away from personal training after my own PT studio was forced to close due to structural damage.

What happened took a huge toll on me, both physically and mentally. I lost something I had poured so much time, energy and passion into.

I was eager to get back to doing what I love, so I reached out to PureGym Rhyl and from the moment I walked through those doors, I was welcomed with open arms.

7 weeks later, I can honestly say I made the right decision.

I’ve been able to pick up where I left off, rebuild my client base, meet some amazing people and, most importantly, finally do what I love full time again.

And I don’t think I can put into words how grateful I am for that.

To the PureGym team, thank you for welcoming me into the gym and making me feel part of the team from day one.

To the members, thank you for the conversations, the encouragement, the support and for making me feel at home.

To everyone who attends my classes, thank you for showing up, putting in the work and trusting me to push you.

And to every person who has signed up for PT with me over the last 7 weeks, thank you for putting your trust in me with your goals, your confidence, your health and your journey.

Every conversation, every session, every little breakthrough and every person I’ve been able to help has reminded me exactly why I started doing this in the first place.

I had a difficult chapter over the last 12 months, but these last 7 weeks have reminded me that sometimes a setback isn’t the end of your story.

Sometimes it’s the beginning of a better chapter.

So, to everyone at PureGym Rhyl who has supported me, spoken to me, trained with me, attended a class, recommended me, signed up for PT or simply said hello as I’ve walked around the gym.

Thank you.

Here’s to the next chapter.

Going 100mph with your training

One thing I often talk to my clients about is the speed we try to live our lives at when we first start training.

When you first decide to make a change, it’s very easy to go 100mph.

You’re excited.

You’re motivated.

You’re ready for a new lifestyle, a new diet, a new body and to finally start feeling better about yourself again.

So you train hard. You change your diet. You start walking more. You’re suddenly doing everything you possibly can.

And honestly?

That can be an amazing kick start.

But here’s the problem

You can’t stay at 100mph forever.

Think about a car.

If you constantly drove it at 100mph with the engine sitting at high revs, eventually something is going to give.

Our bodies are no different.

Training is stress. Life is stress. Work is stress. Sleep, nutrition, family and everything else going on around us all contribute to the overall load our body has to deal with.

Eventually, your body naturally starts to slow you down.

Your energy drops.

Your workouts don’t feel as good.

You start getting little niggles and aches.

Your motivation isn’t what it was when you started.

And I’ve actually had a handful of clients say exactly this to me over the last week.

These are clients who aren’t just doing their PT sessions. They’re attending classes, doing their own solo sessions in between, and really putting the work in.

But this week I’ve heard things like:

“I don’t feel as motivated this week.”

“I feel weaker this week.”

“I’ve got some aches and pains that are bothering me.”

And my response is simple:

This might be a sign that you need to ease your foot off the accelerator.

This is where a lot of people make the mistake of thinking:

“I’m losing motivation.”

“I’m going backwards.”

“Maybe this just isn’t for me.”

But sometimes, you’re not going backwards at all.

Sometimes your body is simply telling you:

“Slow down.”

If you’ve been running at 100mph for weeks, dropping to 50mph for a little while isn’t failure.

It isn’t laziness.

It isn’t losing your progress.

It’s understanding your body well enough to know when you need to ease off the accelerator.

Maybe that week means reducing the weight.

Maybe it means doing one less session.

Maybe it means getting more sleep.

Maybe it means taking a proper rest day instead of forcing another workout.

And remember, if you spend a week or two at 50mph, you’re still heading in the right direction.

You haven’t stopped.

You haven’t undone all your progress.

You’re still moving forward.

Because 50mph is always better than 0mph.

The goal isn’t to live at 100mph.

The goal is to find a speed you can sustain.

Because I’d much rather have a client training at 50–70mph consistently for years than someone training at 100mph for six weeks before burning themselves out and stopping completely.

Fitness isn’t about how hard you can go when motivation is at its highest.

It’s about learning how to keep moving when motivation naturally comes and goes.

Sometimes you push the accelerator.

Sometimes you ease your foot off it.

Both are part of the journey.

Slowing down doesn’t mean you’ve stopped.

Sometimes slowing down is exactly what allows you to keep going.

There’s something I’ve realised over the years

Doing things alone can make you feel strong.

You go to the gym alone.
You deal with your problems alone.
You keep your struggles to yourself.
You tell everyone you’re fine when, really, you’re not.

And eventually, you convince yourself that needing someone else means you’re weak.

I’ve been guilty of this myself.

People think that because I’m a Personal Trainer, I have everything 100%. I don’t.

I’m guilty of convenience eating during busy days.
I’m guilty of giving 50% on a workout.
I’m guilty of struggling with motivation.

I have days where I don’t want to train. Days where I’d rather go home. Days where eating something quick and convenient feels easier than preparing a proper meal.

But that makes me one thing

Human.

As a PT, I have a sacred hour at 5pm. Nobody can book me because that’s my training time. I train with my training partner.

Do I need him? No.

I know what I’m doing. I know how to train. I know all exercise I need to do, I know how to eat. I could quite easily walk into that gym by myself and get a workout done.

But having him there makes a difference.

When I’ve had a long day and my motivation is low, he pushes me. He listens when I need to talk. He keeps me accountable.

And when I say, “I’ve got one more rep left,” he’ll say

“No. Three.”

Sometimes you don’t need somebody to teach you what to do.

You just need somebody who can see when you’re capable of more than you’re giving.

That’s something I want my clients to understand too.

When you walk through the gym doors, you don’t need to be confident. You don’t need to know everything. You don’t need to have your nutrition perfect or understand every exercise.

You just need to be willing to start.

Because personal training isn’t about me doing everything for you.

It’s about helping you build the knowledge, confidence and habits to eventually feel comfortable doing it yourself.

But until you get there, there’s nothing wrong with having someone beside you.

Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t the workout.

It’s feeling like you’re doing it alone.

And you don’t have to.

Ask questions

I’m not here to exercise your body for an hour, count your reps and wave you goodbye.

I want every session to be a form of education.

I often tell my clients to think of their sessions as their own personal Fitness School.

I want you to understand what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and what it’s actually doing for your body.

Because the gym can be an intimidating place when you don’t understand it.

What exercise should I be doing?
How many sets?
How many reps?
How heavy should I go?
Am I doing this correctly?
What should I be eating?
What does this machine do?

You shouldn’t feel stupid for asking these questions.

In fact, I want you to ask them.

A good coach shouldn’t just give you instructions. They should give you understanding.

Because the goal isn’t for you to blindly rely on me forever.

The goal is to build your confidence, knowledge and ability to eventually walk into any gym and know exactly what you’re doing.

And personal training isn’t just about what happens during the hour we spend together.

Exercise is one piece of the puzzle.

We also work on mindset, habits, consistency, sleep, lifestyle and the way you think about your own progress.

I don’t want you constantly chasing the perfect workout or starting again every Monday because you missed a session or ate something you shouldn’t have.

I want you to understand that progress isn’t always something you can see in the mirror.

Sometimes progress is lifting a weight you couldn’t lift six weeks ago.

Sometimes it’s feeling confident walking through the gym doors.

Sometimes it’s understanding your nutrition instead of following another restrictive diet.

Sometimes it’s simply not giving up when things don’t go perfectly.

Every session should leave you with more than just sore muscles.

It should leave you with more knowledge than you walked in with.

Because my job isn’t simply to train you.

My job is to teach you how to train yourself.
