Player of the month is back and starting off with August’ is club captain Liam Bowers. Liam as always is crucial to the side, constant communication, motivation, desire and goal threat has really shown in these opening 7 games with 9G1A in all competitions and that’s not including the 7 goal contributions in preseason. Throughly deserved Liam, Llongyfarchiadau 👏🏼💙💛

Today we made the short travel to the Coronation Gardens in Rhyl to face a resilient Blue Bridge.

First half:
The first 15 minutes or so we really didn’t get going and to be fair Blue Bridge looked the more dangerous side. After a quick corner between Riley Booker and Riley Patto catches Blue Bridge sleeping, Patto cuts in and fires a shot into the top right corner from a tight angle for his 5th goal of the season. On the 30th minute mark a poor goal kick from the Blue Bridge keeper falls to Skip’s feet and slots it into the bottom corner for 2-0. Blue Bridge continued to fight and got a deserved goal on the stroke of half time to make it 2-1 going into half time.

Second half:
We started a bit better after the restart controlling possession and winning our duels. On the 49th minute Pattos shot is creeping over the line when the blue bridge full backs sweeps it straight into Skips foot to make it 3-1. We feel we still couldn’t get out of 2nd gear and the game was quite evenly matched with the Rhuddlan front line wasting a few chances. In the 74th minute a Riley Booker corner meets the head of Connor Lambert for his first goal in a Rhuddlan shirt. 10 minutes later a Harry Owen cross is headed into his own net by the Bridge Centre half. The scoring was finished up in the 87 minute after the Blue bridge striker got in behind to score his second of the game.

“Pleased to get another 3 points on the board today. Didn’t think we started the game well but overall a good performance for large periods. Played some really nice football at times and kept possession well. Thought we were more dominant in the second half and unlucky not to add a few more to the scoresheet. Credit to Blue Bridge their heads never dropped and they caused us problems in the last 10 minutes but on we march, home against Holyhead Town next week”

🔵 Monthly Wash-up - August 2026/27 🟡

An extremely busy period for all clubs at this time of year and some results were not satisfied with and look forward to September where we can push on and steer the ship back on track!

Saying that, we’ve had some big milestones this month scoring a total of 17 goals across all competitions, we went through to the Qualifying R2 in the Welsh cup for the first time since 23/24 which we defeated T4 opponents. We dug deep in 2 cup games against quality T3 oppositions at home but unfortunately got on the wrong side of the result. We’ve also won the derby this month and got another win with 10men for majority of the game.

We’ve looked back at the Dyrny and Llysfaen games and clearly identified where we went wrong and we hope to put that right this month!

Team Manager Azzie Jones’ comments:
“Up and down start to our reason. Some difficult cup ties against strong opponents and not the results we hoped for but games the lads will learn from. In terms of the league the lads will feel increased confidence following a positive result last week against Meliden. Overall I feel we have played some good football in the majority of our games so far. Hopefully now we can take the last performance into our next game against Blue Bridge on Saturday, gather momentum and become more consistent.”
