The club are proud to officially announce our co-captains for the 26/27 season, Liam Wiggins and Corben Evans.
Liam is a former club captain who took on the captaincy following Jarrad Llewellyn's injury last season. An experienced front-row forward, he has, for years, led from the front, bringing huge amounts of energy and enthusiasm.
Corben also joins him as club captain. An outstanding player in his own right, he has grown in maturity and leadership in recent years, taking on more responsibility while serving as vice-captain.
Both players are products of Ystrad Mini and Juniors, progressing from youth into the senior ranks, and both care deeply about the club. Supporters will know that every time they take to the field, they will show pride in the jersey and lead by example.
Head coach Dylan Jones said: βIβd like to congratulate both Wiggins and Corben on taking on the roles of club captains. An observation in recent seasons has been the need to develop leaders, so this is the first time weβve appointed co-captains. The shared responsibility of directing and inspiring the group, on and off the field, couldnβt have fallen to two better men. Iβm looking forward to supporting them as we head into the season.β
Dylan also had some words of praise for last seasonβs captain, Jarrad Llewellyn: βIβd also like to thank βChukkaβ for his service as club captain. His season-ending injury last season somewhat derailed us, but the way he led by example, putting his body on the line and playing through pain, tells you volumes about the type of bloke he is. Itβs why he will always be acknowledged by supporters as one of the modern greats to have put on our jersey. We hope to see him back on the field again in the not-too-distant future.β
