The bicycle is one of the simplest machines ever created.

Yet few things have changed so many lives.

It has carried riders to Olympic medals, Tour de France victories and World Championships.

It has helped people discover new places, make lifelong friends and find freedom on two wheels.

Today, on World Bicycle Day, we’re celebrating every ride.

The race-winning attacks.

The early morning training rides.

The coffee stops.

The muddy shortcuts.

The windy rides home from work.

The local club runs.

The family adventures.

The riders chasing podiums.

And the riders simply chasing a bit of peace and quiet.

From the world’s biggest races to the lanes of Cornwall, the bicycle connects us all.

Congratulations to Lucy on passing her British Cycling Ride Leadership Level 1 qualification. 👏

Lucy has spent a few years riding now, is experiencing racing in different disciplines and encouraging others to get out on their bikes, so it’s great to see her take the next step as an accredited ride leader.

And that means our summer social rides are back.

Starting Tuesday 2nd June:

The Madone rolls out of Nessebar at 12:50 tomorrow. Bulgaria to Rome, twenty-one stages, three thousand four hundred and sixty-eight kilometres of bike race.

The bike that runs the length of it is in our shop in Redruth.
