Coaching with Tim Woolcott - Archery round 2 and I cannot thank Tim enough for not only another fab session but for helping me out of a massive rut I was in you are bleddy amazing!! 🏹🙏

On 18th August 2026 I travelled up to meet Tim for my 2nd coaching session with him, I won’t lie I was a hit of a mess from the disaster of the few weeks prior (yes I know now I was fighting a bad infection)

One of the big things that happened in those few weeks was I started to anticipate shots and my biggest worry (as I’ve heard so many people talk about it) was I starting to develop target panic?!

Thankfully because Tim is extremely experienced and knowledgeable he knew what to do and what to try
I started off by showing him what had been happening so Tim brought his hinge and we tried that starting on the shot trainer then onto my bow

Wow what a difference as you can see from the video the first arrow I shot with the hinge no worry, no anticipation and feeling more relaxed again!

I left that session feeling so happy, relieved and also amazed at the difference he made with me in just that session so thank you so so much Tim for all your help it means a lot!

Homework:
•Straight home to order a T.R.U. Ball / AXCEL Archery HBC Flex hinge release aid, massive thank you to Merlin Archery for getting my order to me so quickly ordered late Tuesday evening and arrived on Thursday 🏹🙏
•Set up my notebook to write notes from coaching and what to work on
•Take the pressure off myself and work on one thing at a time and get used to my new release aid

Really looking forward to booking my next session with Tim and if anyone is looking for a coach I cannot recommend Tim enough!!

So when I was at BTC I spoke to the lovely company doing the hoodies and asked if they would be interested in doing one for The Worshipful Company of Fletchers National disability champs which they were delighted to ☺️

Please see attached the photo of the design, they are offering both T-shirts and hoodies ☺️

To make it easier and quicker and guarantee we will have them for Disability champs they will post them to me and I will bring them out and give them out to everyone (if you aren’t coming but would still like one we can have it posted to you which will be extra for postage)

Order will be confirmed once payment is received and I will send proof of order once I have sent it

🏹 𝔼𝕩𝕞𝕠𝕦𝕥𝕙 𝔸𝕣𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕤 𝕎𝔸 𝕨𝕖𝕖𝕜𝕖𝕟𝕕 🥈
The weekend of 15th August 2026 I attend Exmouth archers..
On the Saturday it was a WA720 + H2H, I was much happier with my qualification score especially after the weekend before, my first half was so much better shooting a 292 again however I let myself down in the second half but it’s all a learning curve it was time for the H2H..
Well my shooting came back for the H2H and it would of been close, however I didn’t hear the announcement that we were only shooting one end of sighters so lost some valuable points meaning I lost the match but still got a shiny 🥈
Sunday burnout I had been fighting well and truly hit, I started the WA1440 and was really pleased with my score at 70m but into the 60m and I was struggling to hold my bow and wasn’t feeling well at all so I made the sensible decision to retire..
Yes that’s right two weekends in a row I had to retire, but it was definitely the right call as I had to go and lie in my car (see 4th picture) and I ended up sleeping for over 2 and half hours 🫣
Massive thank you to everyone at Exmouth archers who made the weekend possible as i still had the best weekend surrounded and supported by so many amazing people 🫶
So what have I learnt:
• it’s ok if you need to retire, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed as there is always another day
• 5 weekends in a row when you are battling a bad infection and fighting burnout wasn’t the most sensible idea
• I need to listen to my body as it cannot cope the way it used to ..
• And I am proud of myself for having the courage to retire when I needed to for my body and to reduce the risk of messing up my shooting as I starting having some issues, which thankfully I was having my 2nd coaching session with Tim on Tuesday to work on these issues (post to come)
• I’ve also done so much this year and achieved so much more then I had planned so its ok to have a blip especially only 2 years into doing archery 🏹
It’s time to rest now from competitions and get practice in ready for National Disability Champs next month 😃🏹

🇬🇧 𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓣𝓪𝓻𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓼, 𝓝𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵 𝓣𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓢𝓽𝓪𝓰𝓮 6 🏹
A very real, vulnerable honest post below (it’s a long one)..

I’ve been toying whether to post but I’m one for showing the good, the bad and the ugly and it’s something I can look back on and see how far I’ve come ❤️‍🩹
In hindsight I should of retired and not gone as I’d been really poorly leading up to BTC but I was so excited and if I’m honest wanted to prove to myself I could do it even though my body was saying no.. I was battling a nasty infection, burnout and exhaustion and I’m still learning that my body is not able to cope with this like it did pre-accident in 2023
Day 1 BTC was the WA1440, it started off well, 2nd end into 70m I shot a 6 gold end (I got my badge 🥳) then beat my 70m and 60m PB but during lunch I started feeling week and not right but put so much pressure on myself to keep going and it all started to fall apart and 4 ends into 50m I had to retire, which turns out was the right thing as I had a funny turn/med episode .. I felt disappointed but there’s always another day..
Sunday was WA720 H2Hs, let’s just say my worst qualification score to date but despite fighting my body so much I completed the qualification.. then onto the H2Hs, I won my first match taking me into my next match that was against the UK no1 Ella Gibson , of course I lost that one but she shot amazing and was so lovely to shoot a H2H with so thank you ☺️
Overall not the way I wanted my last NT of 2026 to go but there we go, it was my first ever NT, I’ve only been shooting 2 years and I had the courage to go and do it!
Now positives, my aim was not not come last at the NT stages I did and I met those goals I never finished last at any of them 😃
I competed at 3 of the 6 stages and finished the Archery GB National Tour 2026 in 32nd out of 53 which surpassed any expectations I had for my first NT and most importantly I had fun, I met some amazing people and made so many new friends so thank you to everyone who made this years NT possible I had the best time and will see you all next year 🏹

🏹 𝓡𝓮𝓭𝓻𝓾𝓽𝓱 𝓐𝓻𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓼 𝓢𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓮𝓻 𝓣𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓽 🏹
The weekend of the 1st August 2026 my home club hosted our WRS WA weekend 🏹
Saturday was Double 720, I started shooting and I just wasn’t feeling well in myself, I pushed to finish the first 720 but made the call to retire from the afternoon as i wasn’t well and I needed to shoot the Sunday, as everyone says there’s always another day..
Sunday was our WA1440, my first time shooting the round this year and with very rough sight marks with the Rev, I just allowed myself to settle into the shots, but didn’t put pressure on myself as I still wasn’t feeling well, I somehow managed to beat my PB 12 points finishing on 1171 🥈
All in all it was a tough weekend for me, and not knowing at the time it was the start of me battling a nasty infection that would lead to me hitting burn out badly a few weeks later but I did it and got through the weekend 🏹
Massive thank you to everyone at my club who helped in the lead up to and running of the competition to ensure we all had a great day, to my supportive lane buddies on both days and to everyone who made it a great weekend 😊

🥇 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑾𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒈𝒆 𝑼𝑲𝑹𝑺 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒆𝒏𝒅 🏹
The weekend on 25th July I attend Bowmen of Wadebridge UKRS weekend, and I will say one word WIND!! The wind came out in force all weekend and the field was like a wind tunnel so was definitely time to put into practice what Tim Woolcott - Archery and I had been working on 🏹
On the Saturday I shot the Double 720 which despite the wind I kept to my process, kept my body strong and was really pleased to score 1191 (just 6 off my PB) bringing home 🥇
On the Sunday I shot the Hereford, this was my first time shooting this round this year and first time ever with my Mybo Revolution, despite the wind and some questionable sight marks I managed to shoot 1045, although down on my PB, the wind was horrendous definitely the worst wind ive shot in this year but i kept my shot process strong and came away with 🥇 as well as mother and i winning the compound team trophy 🏆
Massive thank you to everyone at BOW that made the weekend possible, despite the wind i had the best weekend surrounded by amazing friends who we had such a laugh with, thank you so much to everyone who made the weekend such a fab weekend 😃🏹

🥇𝗗𝗣𝗔 𝗨𝗞𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 🦌🏹
19.7.26 I attended inclusion series final in partnership with Worshipful Company of Fletchers this was my second time attending one of these events and safe to say I had a wonderful day 😊
I had the best time shooting with my BWAA buddy Mary we both did really well and just had the best day 😊
Today was mainly working on what changes Tim Woolcott - Archery and I made the day before in my coaching session so wasn’t expecting much as the main aim was putting the new processes into practice 🏹
Absolutely over the moon the get another couple 6 gold ends as well as bringing home a 🥇 medal 😃 which meant even more as I was presented my medal by Hilda the Master Flecther of as well as having a lovely chat with her and all the other feltchers who came to support and talk to us all, thank you all so much for everything you do to support us and especially myself as without the support from you all with getting a new bow I wouldn’t be here shooting now thank you 🙏
Massive thank you to everyone at DPA who was involved in creating such an amazing and memorable day for us all, a massive thank you to the lovely lady who gave up her afternoon to agent for us and a massive thank you to Pete for all his hard work organising these events and of course the series for us 🙏 looking forward to seeing you all in November 🏹

🏹 The 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟰 🏹
Last weekend I attended my first ever UK Masters and let’s just say it was very windy!!
On the Saturday it was due to be a Double 720, my first 3 dozen I shot a 304 which I was really pleased with as I was hitting my aim of sitting around 300s then the wind came to play in full force and I scored a 261 in the next 3..
At lunch time a discussion was had by the organises whether it was too windy to continue the comp, shooting length increased and then they changed the qualification to just the morning, I wanted to try with the increase time and shot another 265 but took the decision to leave it there as we had matches on the Sunday.
On Sunday was H2Hs as I just wasn’t settling after the wind the day before and just struggled with my release, I lost my first match (but did manage to shoot a H2H PB) so went into the 2nd chance round, I had a BYE on the first one but opted to shoot it and was pleased to get more H2H practice and just work on my release, I then went into my next match (my body was really struggling) I was in the lead in the 1st and 2nd end (this is a massive achievement for me) but the 3rd end my body crumbled and I started dropping points and then had a miss and lost the match, but was over the moon to be only 1 match away from a medal match in the 2nd chance rounds so things are definitely going in the right direction!

It mean I finished overall 24th out of 31 coming up 3 places from qualification rankings, so for my first ever Masters and my 2nd ever National Tour Stage i was over the moon with the results and did a lot better then i expected 😃🏹

Massive thank you to Amelia for coming with me for the weekend and for all your help as well as agenting for me I couldn’t have done it without you so thank youuu 🫶

Today was a bow maintenance day ahead of National Tour next weekend 🏹

Really grateful for Geoff coming down the field today to help me go through my bow and helping me tie my new D loop and I now feel more confident to tie one on my own now 😊

Also re-tied my peep in and then set up my new Mybo 720 V bar mount so was a lot of tweaking to get the long rod and side bar in the right place 👌

I then decided to shoot a WA720 round not expecting much as obviously the new D loop and peep needs to settle but somehow I managed to shoot a 303 and 312 finishing the round on 615 beating my PB again by 3 points 😃
My new release process I have been working on is starting to come together and when I do it my arrows are flying and landing much better 😊🏹

🏹🇨🇦 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 🍁🏹
Yesterday my home club Redruth Archers Official hosted our Canadian Tournament this is the same as a WA900 + another distance.
I shot the ladies which was 2 and half dozen arrows at 60m, 50m, 40m and 30m
This was only my 2nd time shooting this round and first time with the Compound and let’s just say the wind came out to play.. again.. 🫣
I put into practice what I had learnt the previous weekend and what I’ve been working on since with my new release process and it started to come together 😊
I was really pleased with how I shot especially when I was consistent with my new release process the arrows were landing well and grouping much better then they had so I was over the moon to finish on 1075/1200 and 𝐈 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 out of everyone 🥳 🥇
The highlight was yet to come because 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙏𝙔 𝙍𝙀𝘾𝙊𝙍𝘿!! 😃🥳
Massive thank you to my lane buddies Michaela and Alan for a fab day and for pulling my arrows for me and of course my club for putting on a fab day with a special shout out to Tony for organising it all and those who helped leading up to and on the day of the tournament 😊
Now to get back to my WA50m practice ahead of the next round of Archery GB National Tour in just under 2 weeks 🏹🏹
