What an amazing weekend!!!
Thank you all that attended and helped out with mine and June's captains days over the weekend. Special thanks to Mike Benson who managed to transform my buggy for the day into a boat....Yes a boat (photos to follow) it was just amazing the detail and time that was put into it.
Thanks also to the management and staff at both Redbourn for the day and Aldwickbury Park Golf Club for evening. Massive thank you to the band, Undercover for keeping us dancing all night (some more than others it has to be said!!) I would also like to thank the past captains for there generosity in supplying the prizes for the raffle and to the amazing generosity of the guests on the night for buying rafle tickets and bidding for aution prizes.
Biggest thanks of all to my amazing wife Hayley for her help, support and guidance.

Congratulations to Owen Benson on winning the Redbourn junior open today with a fantastic 69 and finishing his round 5 under through the last 4 holes including a hole in one on the16th!
A rising star no doubt!!

In other news...the men took on the ladies today to 'not' win the wooden spoon.
Unfortunately, as in many of the past years, the men were well and truly beaten 7 1/2 to 2 1/2.
Congratulations to the ladies and lady captain June White really did enjoy presenting me with the Wooden Spoon!!

So today we carried out the first of our monthly captains prize draws for the year.

Gentleman, we are again looking for men to fill the last few spaces for our Mens match at home against Mill Green on Saturday 13th May
It's a 9am meet for breakfast, first tee from 10:04. The match is a 4 ball better ball Pairs competition.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and supported the cricket match against Redbourn Cricket club on Sunday.

We arrived at the cricket ground to witness a well kitted out cricket team, positioning sight screens and setting out boundary ropes. For the first time I realised that we might have bitten off more than we could chew and that this was going to be a proper cricket match. I was greeted by Rakesh the Sunday team captain and we discussed some of the details of the match and then to my relief, he offered me Reece, their overseas professional to help bolster the strength of our side. I turned to look at our team practicing in the nets, only to see Will Goacher wielding a cricket bat at the roof of the practice net, trying to retrieve a ‘loose’ bowl….. needless to say I accepted his kind offer.

We lost the toss and the cricket club opted to bat first. I was delighted with our fielding performance and we managed to peg them down to a total of 137 for 9 after 20 overs. Our very own John Spencer opened the batting for us with Reece their loaned overseas professional. Reece’s wicket fell fairly quickly, and his contribution to our total run count was a disappointing Zero. We continued to bat with fantastic performances from Chloe Jackson, John Spencer, Mike Benson, Ian McDowell and Rob Emery. Well done Will Goatcher for going in to face the final ball of the 20th over! Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough but we did rack up a respectable 105 for 7!! A terrific achievement by all. Thanks again and special thanks to the cricket club for taking us on. The next challenge is The Redbourn Bowls Club, cucumber sandwich anyone???

Great day today for junior Captain Nick Denton's drive in. Such a pleasure to play with him and Eddie Wade in a fantastic match. I want to wish Nick the very best for his year ahead.
The overall match was halved 3-3 a great result all round. Thank you to Stuart and Chris for the the behind the scenes work and to Barbara Smith for organising all the cards. Last thanks to everyone who took part in a memorable day where the men did not get a thrashing from the juniors!!
