Friday Fitness Tip 🏋️ Don’t do Romanian Deadlifts (RDLs) like this… ❌

Follow Harry’s 3 simple tips to get the most from this fantastic glute and hamstring exercise:

1️⃣ Keep a neutral spine and hinge at the hips.
Maintain a flat back throughout the movement and push your hips backwards rather than bending through your spine.

2️⃣ Keep the bar close to your body
The bar should travel down your legs, staying close to your thighs and shins for better control and technique.

3️⃣ Drive forward with your glutes
At the top of the movement, squeeze your glutes and drive your hips forward to stand tall.

Mastering these three points will help you lift more effectively, target the right muscles, and reduce the risk of injury. 💪

Help your child make great progress this summer with our 3-day Intensive Swimming Courses, designed to accelerate learning through the Swim England Stages 1–3.

Course dates: Tuesday 28th July – Thursday 30th July

Stage 1
* 8:00am and 8:30am sessions
* Suitable for complete beginners and children already working on Stage 1
* Ages 4–7 years (must be in Reception)

Stage 2
* 9:00am and 9:30am sessions
* Suitable for children aged 5–8 years who have completed Stage 1

Stage 3
* 9:00am and 9:30am sessions
* Suitable for children aged 6+ who have completed Stage 2

Lessons run Tuesday to Thursday and provide a great opportunity for children to build confidence, improve technique and progress through the Swim England stages during the summer holidays.

Customer Appreciation Post 💙💚 One of our lovely members recently shared this wonderful feedback:

“I honestly can’t speak highly enough of the Dragonfly Leisure Centre in Midsomer Norton. I go to around 7–8 classes a week – everything from Core, Yoga, Zest, Pump and Pilates – and I genuinely look forward to every single one.

The classes are not only brilliant but also really fun, which makes such a difference, and they’re always so popular.

What really makes the centre special for me is the instructors. They’re full of energy, incredibly encouraging, and genuinely care about everyone in the room. No matter your level, you feel supported and welcome.

The facilities themselves have improved so much, and there’s a real sense of community here. It’s lovely to see families bringing their children for swimming, and young people making good use of the gym – it feels like the whole town comes together around health and fitness.

I’ve recently started the new Rebalance class with Lottie, and it’s been a real revelation. She brings so much positivity and understanding, especially around women’s health during what can be a challenging time. It’s empowering and uplifting in a way that’s hard to put into words.

All in all, it’s a fantastic facility and such an important part of Midsomer Norton. I’d recommend it to anyone – it really is something special.”

Friday Fitness Tip on the Rowing Machine. Follow Harry’s 3 simple tips to get more from every row:

1. Good posture
Keep your chest up, shoulders relaxed, and maintain a strong position throughout the movement.

2. Full range of motion
Reach forward at the start and finish with a big pull to maximise every stroke.

3. Power over speed
Don’t focus on rowing as fast as possible. Generate power through each stroke and let the speed take care of itself.
