Acid Reflux or Indigestion can massively impact your pregnancy, exercise routine and wellbeing. I was unfortunate enough to suffer so badly with it in both my pregnancies that I had to get medication from my GP. I remember nights where I would shotgun a whole bottle of Gaviscon in one go with zero relief from the burning. I still suffer with it today and have just been put back on Omeprazole to try and sort it out.

So in this post, I've shared a few simple tips on how you can exercise comfortably even if there is a fire burning in your tummy and chest.

💗 Why do I love my job as a pre and post natal personal trainer?

I get to support some amazing women with their fitness journeys. I provide them with a space to exercise without judgement or scrutiny. I provide them with the tools and guidance to continue their journey after my program. I give them time for themselves by cuddling tiny babies or entertaining toddlers with my silly antics.

I give them what I so badly craved and needed after having my babies but maybe didn't have access to or the affordability to participate.

It can be absolutely nerve-wracking returning to exercise after having a baby. Unfortunately, we aren't given the tools throughout our pregnancies and after birth to navigate this issue.

🤚 Stop the comparison game

I recently spoke to someone who was ashamed that a woman who was pregnant at the same time as her had lost the baby weight already and was back into her pre-baby wardrobe. So many of us have these worries about our postnatal bodies, staring in the mirror picking apart each fold and stretch mark.

The first thing to ask your is, did I have the same body as this woman before our pregnancies? Probably not.

Secondly, this woman does not have the same life as you.

She has different genetics to you,
She has a different income to you,
She has a different diet to you,
She has a different support system to you,
She has different accessibility to you,
She has had a different recovery to you,
She is not you! So the best thing to do is to focus on you, make the steps that suit you and your life style.

We don't have to love our bodies but we do need to give ourselves a break.
