Many congratulations to Andy.

Croquet England is delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Dalby-Welsh as CEO from 1 October.

Samir Patel, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said “Andy has led organisations across the sport, disability, and youth development sectors for over twenty years, and I’m excited that he will be bringing this experience and enthusiasm to Croquet England.”

Golf tankard competition. Eight competitors had a great day playing matches against each other. The eventual winner this year was Carol.

There are 2 great opportunities to try croquet coming up at your local club in Purley.

Open Afternoon Saturday 18th May 1- 4 pm
And Free 4 week course Thursdays 23rd May, 30th May and 6 th and 13th June 7 pm to 9 pm. We still have spaces available for anyone who would like to try the sport.

It’s a great game and lovely to play outside on a summer’s afternoon. All equipment is provided.

Free croquet course

I am running a how to play croquet course at Purley Bury Croquet Club and would love people to sign up. It’s a great game of skill that is reasonably quick to learn but can take a long time to master. It’s really lovely to play outside on a summers day.

The course will run on the following dates
Thursday 7 pm until 8.45 pm 23rd, 30th May and 6th and 13th June.

We will cover different types of croquet shot, how to play golf and association croquet and basic rules.

It will a fun course as well as informative.

All equipment is provided. The venue is Purley Bury Croquet Club, 53, Purley Bury Avenue, CR8 1JF.

This is a picture of Carol and her family playing croquet. Carol joined as a member and can now hire the lawns to invite friends and family to play. Croquet is an easy game to learn to play but can take years to master .

Croquet is not the posh sport people imagine. It’s a great game of skill and it’s played at a gentle pace outside. This is a picture of 2 people who really enjoyed our open day last year and came back for more coaching.

This is a picture from when Purley Bury played croquet at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club against Wimbledon. We had a tour of the tennis club and visited Centre court . We were fantastically entertained with lunch and tea. This is us enjoying tea on the royal balcony
