Jumping on the 80s bandwagon… meet our Shinty Coaches! 💗💙

Big hair, questionable fashion and even bigger shinty energy! 😂🏑
Same coaches, same love of the game… just a LOT more hairspray.

Shinty vibes: 10/10.
Fashion choices: debatable.
Banter: timeless. 😂

At East Lothian Shinty Club, community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to be part of our local community here in East Lothian, and we’re always delighted to have opportunities to share what we have with other communities, no matter how far-reaching that connection may be.

This week, we were delighted to send some East Lothian Shinty Club strips and tops on an incredible journey to Tanzania.

Club family member Steve recently embarked on an amazing trip with The Vine Trust, an international development charity working alongside long-term partners in Peru and Tanzania to strengthen health systems and support sustainable, community-led development projects in isolated and vulnerable communities.

As part of The Vine Trust’s wider work, volunteers also have the opportunity to connect with school communities in Tanzania, taking part in community-led building projects and seeing sustainable international development in action.

Knowing he was heading out to Tanzania, Steve was kind enough to pack a bag full of ELSC playing strips and zip tops to pass on to the amazing children of Darajani Primary School.

We’re delighted that some of our club kit can travel a little further afield and hopefully bring plenty of smiles to the pupils of Darajani Primary, while creating a small but meaningful connection between our club here in East Lothian and their school community in Tanzania. 🌍

We share these photos with the full permission of the children and The Vine Trust.

A huge thank you to Steve for taking the time and space to bring the kit with him, and to The Vine Trust for the incredible work they continue to do.

From our community to theirs — it’s fantastic to see the ELSC family reaching a little further afield. 💙

What a fantastic day at the Musselburgh Gala & Youth Games! 🌟🥍

It was brilliant to see so many people giving shinty a go and discovering what our sport is all about. The enthusiasm, energy and smiles on display all day were fantastic, and after seeing some of the talent on show, we might just have spotted a few future shinty stars from East Lothian! ⭐

A massive thank you to Musselburgh Loop for organising such a successful event and giving us the opportunity to introduce shinty to so many new faces.

Here’s to growing the game and inspiring the next generation! 💪🥍
